Following up on discussion at the May meeting regarding the need for annual progress measures to
show the impact of the 3-mill funding, Amy Foley reported that she met with Renee Carter, Dean of
Academics for BCBE, and her team. Ms. Carter will be pulling together data and sharing with the
Fairhope principals. The principals will review the information and help commission members determine
which measures will be useful and how to compile those to show progress (or lack of progress) related
to the funding. Development of this “report card” will be discussed further at the August meeting.
There was discussion of the problems faced by students outside of the school setting that affect long-
term success, and various approaches to addressing them. In an effort to engage parents and others in
the community, the commission will consider partnering with the principals to host an open house event
where attendees can learn more about what is going on in the schools and what is being accomplished
with the enhanced funding.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:50. Next meeting will be on August 3rd at 4:30 at Fairhope West
Elementary.
Respectfully submitted by Miranda Schrubbe
