HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-15-2010 Regular MeetingChristmas Parade 2010 Committee Minutes Meeting Date: 9/15/2010 Place: Nix Center Time: 12 Noon to 1 :00 PM Members Present: Barbara Lawson, Alex Robinson, Stan Grubin, Ted Dwyer, Arthur Bosarge, Sherry Sullivan, Dan Heffern and Capt Joe Pettis. The following issues were reviewed: The minutes of the 8/18/2010 meeting were reviewed and approved without change. Review of updated Parade Application and Rules Alex Robinson presented the recently revised parade forms. Further suggested change: At the top of the entry form, describing the float, add: "Parade entrants should be in their assigned float location by 5:30PM". Volunteer Recruitment • Add Joyce Grubin as a Parade Marshal. • Alex has again made contact with the High School to recruit volunteer Marshals. The reaction is encouraging for an "upgrade" over last year's numbers. The Quality of Life Grand Marshall • Joe Birindelli will be accompanied by his wife; they will provide their own convertible. New Items: • There will be no committee meeting in October; our next meeting will be on November JO'". • Volunteer John Gammer will be asked to supervise float placements etc on Morphy Street with emphasis at the left turn area from Summit. Dan Heffern currently works these pre parade functions on Summit Street. • Additional lighting is needed on Summit Street. If the electric utility has problems, we may use rental lights. • Future Parade publicity shall emphasize the day change from Friday to Saturday and the concept of floats being in parade lineup by 5:30 PM. • Alex will call volunteer marker Al Macpherson to assure street parade layout is on target. A heavy and sweaty Santa iumped into the room with his red suit and black boots on! In the wink of an eye, we all went outside to take a group picture with him. Santa was gone in a flash!!
