FAIRHOPE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT BOARD
DECEMBER 9, 1976
The Fairhope Municipal Airport Board met in a called meeting on Thursday,
December 9, 1976 at 1:00 P.M., at the City Administration Building, in
Fairhope, Alabama.
Present at the meeting were the following: Chairman J. Russell Kilgore,
member James E. Gaston, and also present to be welcomed as a new member
to the Board, Don Wiggins.
Guests present: M.L. Aust, representing Aust-Ponder Engineering and Survey,
and Debbie Breedlove, Editor for the Eastern Shore Courier.
Chairman Russ Kilgore presented to the Board for review, a letter written
to the FAA and to Mr. & Mrs. Robert Weese as to the notification and authorization
procedures for the run -way taxiway lights operation at the Fairhope Municipal
Airport that are being published in the Airman's Information Manual. The letters
were approved by all present.
A review report was discussed as to the status on the pre -application on ADAP
76 Fiscal Year funding. After a discussion it was concluded that Federal
funding for ADAP pre -application for this Fiscal Year would be doubtful thru the
spring of 1977.
Mr. M.L. Aust of Aust Ponder Engineering and Survey was present to discuss the
up-to-date problems of the runway. He along with Joe Lamar of Dixie Laboratories,
Inc. made a visual inspection on November 15, 1976 on the condition of the
asphalt, noting a minimal development of stress cracks and water saturation and
resolved that repair should be made as soon as the weather was permissible.

Russ Kilgore motioned two invoices for approval:
1. Aust-Ponder Engineering and Survey
Invoice # 9159, Dated November 19,1976
for $ 476.75. Design and Installation
coordination of radio controlled lights.
2. Dixie Laboratories Inc. Invoice # 16623,
dated November 30, 1976 for $ 37.50.
Inspection by Joe Lamar on condition of
asphalt and susceptibility of damage from
water/freeze thaw and excessive wheel loads.
Motion was seconded by Jimmy Gaston and carried by all.
After a lengthy discussion on the inspection made above as to the
major cause of the runway condition, motion was made by Don Wiggins
to restrict larger aircraft, those weighing more than a Gruman Gulfstream II,
from using the Fairhope facility. A letter was written to Mr. & Mrs. Robert
Weese bu Chairman Russ Kilgore, for the Board, as to this restriction.
The motion was seconded by Jim Gaston and carried by all.
The final discussion brought before the Board, was the results of the
inspection from the FAA Facilities Inspection letter which stated that the
Fairhope Municipal Airport was in compliance with the Federal Regulations
making three recommendations and resolutions made by the Board:
1. Grass mowed around runway lights- has been taken
care of.
2. Runway lights need repairing- some being out -
parts are being bought to repair those in need of
repair.
3. Threshold lights in need of repair- Prices are
being investigated to resolve in and purchase
of necessary equipment.
There being no further business, upon motion, seconded and carried, meeting
adjourned.
