Linda Jones mailed a letter to the buidings owner, A & L General Partnership, and received a phone reply a few weeks later from Jeanne Lankford, from A & L (cell phone: 423-2200). * Ms. Lankford reported that the company does commercial restorati on and owns/leases several buildings in Fa irhope, Daphne and Mobile . They also own the bldg. at #403 Fa irho pe Ave. (Andree's Wine Cheese -designed by architect Marshal Fishrup , now deceased), and another at the corner of Summit and Fairhope Avenues .. They purchased #412 twenty years ago from Mr. Preston McMillian , who lived on Bayview St. up until 1992. He restored the building during the late 1980's-early 1990's, and added the 'gingerbread' trim. Ms. Lankford states that it is the original structure , and was possilbly a hospital at one time, but does not know the year it was built. The building was previous ly leased to Caroline Marty, with The Village Peddler, who now rents occupied by a drafting business upstairs and a stationery studio at street level. Linda Jones inquired at the Single Tax office about any additional information on the property. The office could only confirm the remodel in 1986 by Preston McMillan . She was unable to meet with Ms . Marty after two attempts. Ross Hobbs will continue to gather more information on the building . *Note: copy of tour map and letter to A & L is attached .
