, 2012
I. Falls
• Most falls in kitchens are due to wet floors
• To avoid slipping and falling, it's important to wipe up any spills that
occur immediately and dry the floor.
• Warning signs should be properly displayed after mopping until the
area has dried.
• Passageways should be kept free from any obstructions or obstacles to
avoid trips, slips and/or falls.
II . Exposure to Hot and Harmful Substances
• Always ensure that hot liquids such as water, coffee, or oil are
covered when not directly working with them.
• Be careful when carrying any pans or containers with hot liquids that
could potentially splash and scold either yourself or fellow workers.
• Cleaning materials, if handled incorrectly, can cause skin conditions
such as rashes.
• Make sure to remove expired food and beverage products from the
kitchen.
------------------------
III . Fire Safety in the Kitchen
• Make sure kitchen appliances are completely free of any materials that
could catch fire, such as paper and cloth towels, unused oil, or grease
buildup.
• Make sure that all fire extinguishers are up to date and working
properly.
