B b ff . 0 a a an, ep. arue arnson, 0 1ggms Subject Discussion Action Minutes from previous No changes EAC meeting School Visits by EAC and Questions about the "effect" of the EAC visiting each school, how to Schedule dates and time for EAC how we approach and approach the principal, ask specific question prior to visiting, and have members visit to each school gather certain impressions brief visit to not infringe on the operations of the school. Submit questions ahead of visit, schedule visits in at least pairs, limit time Gretchen draft letter to principals of the visit, then come back together and form our impressions into clear w/questions by 4.21.12 and set date range issues and recommendations, for visit and set schedule Discussion of budget Timeline needed regarding EAC action(s) particularly related to funding proposal this year for for Fairhope area schools next year. In requesting money EAC must be funding next fiscal year clear about the ask, and make request within required budget cycle Request funding for 2 Do we want to request funding for 2 units per school ($70,000+ per unit) Educational Units per Are we seeking to just shore up the losses of teaching units? Do we want schools next year to request teaching units next year and Creative Arts programs in future? Do something now for every school. Without teaching units the load grows per classroom and school. Stipulations focused on curriculum and instruction (student learning). Concrete proposal now to budget committee Once we look ahead from our visits to schools , data gathering, forming Begin preparations for City Financial relationships with other support groups our initial funding request Committee, June/July is the time frame for request so we need to set date for EAC funding ask next meeting 4/30/12 Getting Office space @ Dr. Cindy Wilson is willing to consider providing office/meeting space Jim will make the request next week. USA forEAC for the EAC on USA's Fairhope Campus. Work with USA College of Ed. Gulf Shores , how do they Bob will look into what Gulf Shores has do their funding initiative done to fund their schools in area public schools Data Committee Henry, look at the data we have access to and need to understand Henry will explore available data and the "meachoolning" in the data .J.. Technolo .. nformation Jim and Karen will look into the services an _....nctions of utilizing Cloud Karen & Jim -committee Computing for EAC to post information Get together with FEEF How might we work with other organizations that are already committed Julia and Karen and Good2Great and to investing in the Fairhope Area Schools Seek relationships with other other Fairhope education support groups to gather their ideas and plans for contributing to the area schools so our EAC funding request meets a defined need (Creative Arts?) Make a clear request that is blended and not duplicative Much discussion! Goal not yet in focus so we need to gather data, target our request for ''justified" needs. We may be able to get FEEF, Good2Great, etc. to provide their investment and activities plans for next year and beyond for area schools so we avoid duplication. Budget Committee How does the City of Fairhope Budget Committee work? What might be Bob Riggs the issues with part-time or temporary positions in our schools vs. tenure track position(s)? How long a commitment do we need for our schools? Next EAC Meeting 4/23/12 @ 4:30 P.M.
