Harriet reported on the success of the Homes Tour and reviewed the Homes Tour Proceeds Chart. The
e-mail sent out by Mikeal Donald informing the HFPC that the Homes Tour Committee will no longer
organize the event, was also discussed . The HFPC will need to begin work ASAP for the 2013 Tour, or
prepare to organize the 2014 Homes Tour. Stephanie Williamson has expressed an interest in having her
home on the next tour.
Debbie Kingrea has completed only one piece of artwork for the 2012 Homes Tour, which appeared on
the brochure. Harriet will contact Mikeal and inquire about the whereabouts of the original piece of art,
which may already have been presented to the homeowner. Andy Overstreet will be asked to complete
the artwork for the five remaining homes.
Other Business:
Suggestions were made and discussed regarding the HFPC's transition with the new city council :
a) The Committee can approach the council with a letter.
b) The Committee can wait for the council to appoint a representative, or liason, from its council
members .
c) Deveroux Beemis, from the Historic Development Commission, is scheduled to speak to the public
about preservation , on November 20th @ 2:00 at the museum . The HFPC may need to educate the new
council on preservation and tourism and formally invite the city council members to the presentation .
Joe discussed the Veteran's Statue which will be placed on the bluff. The statues are completed but there
have been problems with the stone suppliers who are donating the materials for the fountain base . A
dedication date is scheduled for February 2013 .
The committee will consider another printing of 'A Place In Time'.
Cathy Donaldson is completing another book on Fairhope . She used many photos from the museum and
Donnie's historical expertise.
The American Legion will be celebrating its 100th anniversary next week . The building was built in 1912
and became a woman's yacht club in 1930. It remained on the National Register of Historic Places up
until 1961 when the exterior of the building was clad .
Jim Huggins has requested to be removed from the HFPC Members List.
