Lorenzo Howard, Chairman
Members: Beeman Bond , Wayn e Griffin, Judy Hale, an d Diane Thomas, Pandora H eathco e,
City Human R eso urce Director. A bs ent was Lonni e Mixon, City Council Li a ison .
The meet in g was called to order at 9:00 a.m.
Minutes from the June 15, 2012 we re approve d by a first motion se t forth by Beeman Bond and
second by Di ane Thomas.
Chairman Howard gave a brief update to the committee on the pro gress of the compensation
study. He di sc u sse d th at he and Di an e Thomas would be m aking a bri ef presentation to Mayor
Kant and Lonnie Mixon, City Co uncil Pres id ent. The st ud y is then placed on the agenda for
Lorenzo and Di an e to make a fo rmal presentation during the City Council Work Session to the
City Cou ncil.
Diane Tho m as a lso gave a brief update conce rnin g the comp en sation guid e lines that w ill need to
be addressed once the compensation s st ud y is approved by the City Council.
Judy Hale suppli ed a bri ef "seco nd draft" hand out concernin g the potential Personnel Board
Disciplinary Appeal Pro cess and ho w the flow of holding th e meeting wo uld progress. It was
decided that thi s will b e a work in g continu ed di sc u ss ion in futur e meetin gs.
There was a n open di sc u ssion amon g all P er so rm el B oard m emb ers and Pandora Heathcoe,
Human R eso urce Manager, conce rnin g the iss u e of safety Pandora Heathco e stated that an
internal committee h ad b een forme d th at cons ists of City of Fairhope e mployees.
Chairman Howard di sc u ssed the upcomin g agenda for the ne x t m ee tin g. The agenda will
tentatively be to discuss di scip lin ary process rev iew, training, and the p erformance evalu at ion
process for emp lo yees. Chairman Ho ward suggested that the Board skip th e August m ee tin g and
schedu le one for September. A ll m embers agreed.
Wayne Griffin moved th e meeting be adjourned and Diane Thomas seco nd ed the motion.
