Monday, April 16, 2012
The meeting was held in the FPL upstairs conference room and called to order at 5:36 p .m . by
Martin Lenaux. Others in attendance were Carson Nicolson, Molly Peterson, Dan Stankowski,
Tamara Dean -Library Director, and Cecil Christenberry, arriving late . The minutes from the
March 2012 meeting were submitted and approved .
Reports:
Library director, Tamara Dean, gave a review of the Library employee, statistical, and financial
reports . After review by those present, all reports were accepted as presented .
Business:
There were no new developments regarding the Faulkner Lease .
Tamara then reported on the recent efforts at landscaping and cleanup around the library
grounds . It was reported that Holly Wiseman volunteered on the library grounds over the past
week, weeding, planting and overseeing the general upkeep of the library's overgrown and
under-tended landscape . Tamara noted that Ms . Wiseman had personally donated materials
for the project and secured donated materials from Mr. Christenberry as well. In the process of
completing the project, Ms . Wiseman discovered that the sprinkler system was not connected.
Without the sprinkers available, she and an assistant were hand carrying water to the newly
planted areas. Over the course of the next few days , the plants were not watered properly and
many died and will need replanting. In an effort to revitalize the library's grounds, Ms .
Wiseman expressed a request that the City of Fairhope be asked to replace the dead holly
bushes in the library's landscaping and that they replace the construction debris and clay with
proper topsoil before replanting. In general, Ms. Wiseman and Tamara both expressed concern
regarding the City's lack of attention to maintaining the library's landscaping .
The next Board meeting will be held at 5:30 on May 21st at the library.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:39 p .m .
