HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-21-2011 Regular MeetingMinutes of Meeting: Fairhope Public Library Board of Trustees February 21, 2011 The meeting was called to order at 5:33 PM by Chairman Martin Lanaux . In attendance were Martin Lanaux , Frieda Ward, Molly Peterson , Cecil Christenberry, Carson Ni col son , Dan Stankoski -City Councilman , and Tamara Dean -Library Director. The m i nutes from the January meeting were submitted and approved . Reports: Library director, Tamara Dean , gave a review of the Library employee, statistica l, and financial reports . After review by those present, all reports were accepted as presented . Business: Fr ieda and Tamara gave reports on the Ashley Bryan Art Exhibit which was held in the l i brary's Conference Center throughout February. Over 600 student visitors from private and public K- Sth grades visited the exhibit. It was reported that the "Meet the Artist" reception was well attended and beautifully presented. Tamara noted that the increased library awarene ss in the community was well worth all of the energy and effort put forth for the art exh i bit. Some details for the Staff Reception were discussed. Frieda will be addressing these further in the ne xt few weeks including finding an appropriate location, food decision s, and whom to invite . The Board approved Tamara 's request that all library staff members be allowed to attend the Alabama Library Association 's annual meeting which will be held in Baldwin County in mid April. This professional development opportunity will result i n the library being clo sed on Wednesday, April 20th . Marti n provided printed literature regarding the upcoming Hoot Scoot fund raiser for the Library Foundation . The event is a SK "prediction" run and will be held on Friday, April 29th at 6 :3 0 p.m . Martin noted that the event could use more sponsors . He also pre sented copies of the Foundation 's new brochure . With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6 :16 p .m . Re spectfully Submitted by : Molly Peterson
