Section St., Fairhope, AL • Approval of Minutes for April 19 , 2011 meeting • Status of East Side project • 2012 AIP Project for West Side • Discussion of rotary beacon replacement • Update on FAA Certification ofRTTF Status • Resolution to contract for consulting services • Discussion of Av iation Training Academy • Treasurer 's report • New business Schedule Of Future Meetings (Note: Regular meetings are on the 3 rd Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Delchamps Room at City Hall, 161 N. Section St., Fairhope, AL.) • Next regular meeting: Tuesday , June 21 , 2011 The Fairhope Airport Authority met Tuesday, May 17 , 2011 , at 4:30 PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street. Present: Chuck Zunk, Chairman. Members: Rod Platt, Charlie Bassett, Joe McEnerney, Pam Caudill , Dan Stankoski, and Howard Hadley. Attorney: David Bagwell. Absent: Gregg Mims, City Administrator. Pandora Heathcoe, City Administrative Assistant took the minutes. The minutes of the April 18th meeting were considered and duly approved on motion b y 1st Rod Platt, 2nd by Howard Hadley and unanimously carried. East Side Construction -Chuck Zunk reported that everything is on schedule. Volkert needs to complete the final documents so they can be submitted to the FAA for the processing of the appropriate funds. 2012 AIP Project for West Side & Rotary Beacon Replacement -The pavement on the West Side apron will need to be resurfaced due to deterioration . If funding is requested for these two items at the same time it will permit having to use only one (1) contractor and will also save approximately $50,000 on the rotary beacon replacement. Update on FAA Certification of RTTF Status -Chuck Zunk reported that the City Council passed a resolution that mandates that no residential traffic will have access through the fence. Contract for Consulting Services -Charlie Bassett reported that a meeting with Sonny Callahan took place to contract his services for the airport. These consulting services will increase traffic and services for the airport and he will be meeting with Congressman Jo Bonner next week. Motion was presented for a resolution for Chuck Zunk to sign a contract with Sonny Callahan & Associates for the initial $2,500 monthly fee for one (1) year. David Bagwell talked to a bond attorney to make sure there are no legal ramifications which there are none at this time. The resolution was duly approved on motion by 1st Rod Platt, 2 nd by Charlie Bassett and w1animously carried Discussion of Aviation Training Academy -There isn 't an update at this time. Allen Lee is waiting on his budget from Montgomery. Treasurer's Report -Joe McEnerney said everything is right on schedule and there is nothing new to report. ew Business -Charlie Bassett reported that 3-4 months ago he met with an investment banker (Fhil Hunt) to discuss sales tax. They discussed setting up a tax district just for the airpmi (just the City portion). 1 Howard Hadley brought up the empty hangars at the airport . He said that Continental has expressed an interest in managing them. He also suggested we investigate the economics of lowering our t-hangar rate. There being no further business , on motion to adjourn by 1st Joe McEnerney, 2nd by Pam Caudill and unanimously carried, the meeting was duly adjourned at 6:03 PM . 2
