HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-23-2019 City Council Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday. 23 September 2019. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Jay Robinson, Jimmy Conyers, Robert Brown, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Karin Wilson, City Attorney Marcus E. McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. There being a quorum present. Council President Burrell called the meeting to order at 6:06 p.m. The invocation was given by Councilmember Robert Brown and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Councilmember Brown moved to approve minutes of the 9 September 2019, regular meeting; minutes of the 9 September 2019, work session; minutes of the 9 September 2019, agenda meeting; and 16 September 2019, special budget work session. Seconded by Councilmember Robinson, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Mayor Wilson addressed the City Council with the following Power Point Presentation found at the end of the minutes. Councilmember Robinson requested Randy Fidler with the Fairhope Kiwanis Club to address the City Council. Mr. Fidler presented the City of Fairhope a check for $2,600.00 to use towards Fels Toddler Park for a new see saw. He mentioned several fundraisers the Kiwanis does annually: Gumbo Cookoff and Golf Tournament. Mr. Fidler commented they have donated over $100,000.00 to our youth. He congratulated Tom Kuhl on his retirement. Councilmember Robinson wished Tom Kuhl a happy retirement. Councilmember Conyers also commented on the Kiwanis Gumbo Cookoff; and thanked Tom Kuhl for his service with the City. Councilmember Brown thanked everyone for coming out to vote on the Special Tax District Referendum. Councilmember Boone gave an "Atta Boy" to Tom Kuhl for his service to the Council President Burrell thanked Tom Kuhl for his service with the City and congratulated Pat White as our new Recreation Director. He requested Cecil Christenberry with the Baldwin County Board of Education to address the City Council.
