COUNTY OF BALDWIN )(
The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at
6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber,
161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on
Monday. 13 February 2017.
Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Jay Robinson,
Jimmy Conyers, Robert Brown, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Karin Wilson, City
Attorney Marion E. Wynne, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks.
There being a quorum present. Council President Burrell called the meeting to
order. The invocation was given by Reverend William Parsons, Pastor of Redeemer
Lutheran Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Councilmember Boone
moved to approve minutes of the 23 January 2017, regular meeting; minutes of the 23
January 2017, work session; and minutes of the 23 January 2017, agenda meeting.
Seconded by Councilmember Conyers, motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
Mayor Wilson addressed the City Council and mentioned the first Town Hall
Meeting which will be focused on the First 90 Days of being in Office and Looking
Forward. She also mentioned the Team Building Retreat scheduled for March 20,
2017; will have the review of her proposed budget in a few weeks.
Mayor Wilson presented a Proclamation to Pat Lee who founded Children of
the World here in Fairhope; and declared Saturday, February 4, 2017 as Children of
the World Day. Mayor Wilson said Children of the World is internationally known
and will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. She said Ms. Lee is an amazing woman
and has been responsible for an incredible amount of adoptions; right at 2,000.
The following individuals spoke during Public Participation for Agenda
Items:
1) Ron Allen, 6612 Willow Bridge Drive, addressed the City Council regarding
Agenda Items No.12 and No. 13: a resolution to award bid for Sludge Removal
SeiTices for the Waste Water Treatment Plant; and a resolution that the City
Council approves the selection of Goodwyn Mills Cawood, Inc. to perform
Professional Architectural Services for Repairs to Library Structure. Mr. Allen
requested to state how many cubic yards of sludge is being removed; and what
structural repairs will be done at the library.
Councilmember Robinson recognized the Tree Committee and the City for
Arbor Day which was a great event.
Councilmember Conyers thanked the Tree Committee for his business
receiving an award and reminded everyone of the upcoming Mardi Gras parades.
