The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at
6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber,
161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on
Monday. 11 December 2017.
Present were Council President Jack Bun-ell, Councilmembers: Jay Robinson,
Jimmy Conyers, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Karin Wilson, City Attorney Marion E.
Wynne, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Councilmember Robert Brown was absent.
There being a quorum present. Council President Burrell called the meeting to
order. The invocation was given by Father Eric Zubler, Associate Rector of St. James
Episcopal Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Council President Burrell announced that Agenda Item Number 7 was being
pulled at the request of our Attorneys to allow for more research.
Councilmember Robinson moved to approve minutes of the 27 November
2017, regular meeting; minutes of the 27 November 2017, work session; and minutes
of the 27 November 2017, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Conyers,
motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
Mayor Wilson addressed the City Council regarding the following items:
1) Assured the employees that there would be a one-time pay increase, and
asked if there were going to be any changes to please do these after
Christmas.
2) The Christmas Parade was successful and thanked the City staff who
helped with the parade.
3) Special-called City Council meeting was held to discuss the budget; and
went over the Cash Reserves, Personnel, Capital Purchases, and Reduction
in Costs.
4) Announced the 3-day Membership Drive at the Fairhope Recreation
Center
5) Bobby Hall, Golf Director, has announced his resignation after 11 years;
and he and his wife Peggy will be moving back to Hattiesburg, Mississippi
to be with family.
6) The Calendar for "Volunteers" was mentioned and will replace the
ornaments previously given to them. Mayor Wilson mentioned the
overage would be given to the Fairhope Pirate Booster Club for capital
improvements.
