HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-13-2003 Regular Meeting13 August 2003 3165 The City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, reconvened in regular session on Wednesday, 13 August 2003, at 10:00 o'clock a.m., in the Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street. Present were Mayor Timothy M. Kant, Councilmember: Michael A. Ford, Debbie W. Quinn, and Cecil Christenberry; and City Clerk Geniece W. Johnson. Absent were Councilmembers Robert C. Gentle, Pauline Anders, and City Attorney Marion E. Wynne. Council reviewed the results of the previous day's Special Municipal Election — Cable Services. Councilmember Quinn introduced in writing, and moved for the adoption of, the following resolution. Seconded by Councilmember Ford, motion passed unanimously. CANVASS RESOLUTION NO: 980-03 WHEREAS, the Special Municipal Election for Cable Services for the City of Fairhope was duly and legally held on Tuesday, 12 August 2003, as provided by law; and, WHEREAS, the Municipal governing body of the City of Fairhope met on this 13th day of August, 2003, all members thereof being present, at 10:00 o'clock a.m. and has canvassed the returns, and has ascertained and determined the number of voters received by each question; and, WHEREAS, the said municipal governing body has ascertained and determined the results of said election as follows: Shall the City of Fairhope be authorized to acquire, establish, purchase, construct, maintain, lease, and operate a cable television system for the purpose of furnishing cable to subscribers? ❑ Yes 1,982 69% ❑ No 870 31% NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, as follows: The City of Fairhope shall be authorized to acquire, establish, purchase, construct, maintain, lease, and operate a cable television system for the purpose of furnishing cable to subscribers? 13 August 2003 REGISTERED VOTERS 9,471 TOTAL VOTERS 2,852 PERCENTAGE 30% ADOPTED THIS 13TH Councilmember Councilmember Attest: eniece W.
