HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-23-1966 Special Meeting47 FAIRHOPE AIRPORT BOARD SPECIAL MEETING Wednesday, February 23, 19669 2:30 p.m., City Hall A special meeting was called by the Fairhope Airport Board to elect a chairman and any other business which might come before the Board. Members present: Mr. Lacey, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Niemeyer. GuestsI,: Mr. Brothers, Mr. Robie Strickland, Mr. George Dyson Mr. Witznadel and Mr. Moore. Mr. Robertson nominated Mr. La cey as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Niemeyer seconded. Upon being put to a vote, Mr. Lacey was elected to serve as Chairman until November 6, 1966, at which time term shall expire. Mr. Robertson, new member was selected by the City Council of the City of Fairhope to serve for a period of two years, term ending February 14, 1968. Mr. Brothers presented proposed hanger plan, building (area 3,528 sq. ft. overall), to cost approximately $12,000.00, which does not include electric wiring, which will cost approximately $200.00 more. Chain link fence to be used to separate hanger spcs. overall size to be 126 ft X 28 Ft), T-2 hangers will have door opening of 41' 7". Expect to being construction four to six weeks from placement of order. Mr. Brothers suggested rental fee to be $35.00 perkmonth. Water line discussed by Board. Mr. Witznadel suggested bring- ing water line close to hangers and using hoss6. Gas pumps discussed by Mr. Moore. He proposed to move same closer to administration building. Mr. Moore suggested a revision of clear zone easement from�Fbet-, to 200 feet.:,. , c: • - a, a1 Mr. Lacey moved that the Board ask City Council to acquire from Cecil Ward 500 feet clear zone easement for future expansion. Mr. Niemeyer seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Turn around was discussed. Mr. Moore suggested paving solid. Mr. Moore discussed raising runway grade. Mr: Witznadel discussed mechanichal turbulance at timberline. Mr. Lacey moved that the Airport Board request City Council to removep houses on airport property. Mr. Niemeyer seconded. Motion carried. The secretary was instructed to write to Southern Bell Telephon and Telegraph Company, and to Robertsdale Electrical Association, requesting lines be buried for a distance of 607 feet, there- fore reducing hazards.
