HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-14-2000 Regular Meeting2523 STATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 5:30 p.m.; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber; 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on Monday, 14 August 2000. Present were Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmember: John V. Duck, Michael A. Ford, Debbie W. Quinn, Jeanette Puckett, and William H. Jones; City Attorney Marion E. Wynne and City Clerk Geniece W. Johnson. No one was absent. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Councilmember Duck moved to approve minutes of the 24 July 2000, regular meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Quinn, motion passed unanimously. Council reviewed an application for a restaurant Liquor License by Richard L. McGill Jr., dba Dick & Kelly's Roadhouse Cafe, Located at 18751 County Road 27, Fairhope, Alabama. Councilmember Duck moved to approve the issuance of the license. Seconded by Councilmember Quinn, motion passed unanimously. Council reviewed an application for a Restaurant Liquor License by Nancy Coats, dba Ruby Tuesday Business Development Inc., located at 901 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama. Councilmember Puckett moved to approve the issuance of the license. Seconded by Councilmember Jones, motion passed unanimously. Mark Costlow, owner of The Honeybaked Ham Co. & Cafe addressed the City Council requesting permission to park a 38-48 foot refrigerated trailer in the parking area on Bancroft Street at the old pecan factory on or about November 13, 2000, and to be removed on or about December 27, 2000. The self contained trailer will be used to store meat and other refrigerated and frozen products used by their store during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday. Mr. Costlow expressed that the trailer will be run by diesel fuel, and will run all night. There was some environmental concerns with burning diesel fuel. The Council also expressed that the trailer would have to be parked off the streets. Councilmember Duck moved to layover this issue until Aaron Norris could look into metering the trailer to use electric power. Seconded by Councilmember Puckett, motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Jones moved to grant the request of Fairhope High School Band Council to use the Fairhoper's Community Park and surrounding area for their Annual Fall Fest Celebration on the weekend of November 4-5, 2000. This event has taken place for the past two years and there has been no problems reported. It is recommended to accept the Primary Bid which is the low bid of Graybar Electric, Mobile, AL with all specifications being met. Aaron Norris, Wayne Smith, Electrical Supt. Purchasing Agent 14 August 2000 2526 Councilmember Jones moved to accept the Primary Bid of which is also the low bid of Graybar Electric, Mobile, Alabama, provided all specifications are met. Seconded by Councilmember Puckett, motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Duck moved to pay bills as presented. Seconded by Councilmember Quinn, motion passed unanimously. There being no further business, Mayor Nix adjourned the meeting at 5:47 p.m., until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 23rd, in the Council Chamber, at which time the Council will canvass the results of the 2000 Municipal Election, to be held on Tuesday, August 22"d 23 August 2000 The City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, reconvened in regular session on Wednesday, 23 August 2000, at 10:00 o'clock a.m., in the Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street. Present were Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmember: John V. Duck, Michael A. Ford, Debbie W. Quinn, and William H. Jones; and City Clerk Geniece W. Johnson. Absent were Jeanette Puckett, and City Attorney Marion E. Wynne. Council reviewed the results of the previous day's Municipal Election. Councilmember Duck introduced in writing, and moved for the adoption of, the following resolution. Seconded by Councilmember Jones, motion passed unanimously.
