City Hall, Fairhope, Alabama
Regular meeting
Members present: Chairman Mullins, Mr. Niemeyer and Mr. Lacey.
Guests: Mr. Brothers, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Moore, Mr. Witznadel.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Chairman Mullins stated that the City of Fairhope had purchased
approximately 18.74 acres for expansion. Deeds are in Bay Minette
to be recorded.
Mr. Moore, City Engineer suggested Board sign testing contract
with Dixie Laboratories. Mr. Moore was instructed by Board to go
ahead and hire Dixie Laboratories on a percentage basis.
Plans for expansion to be ready March 15, 1966.
Lease with AAA was discussed. Excrepts from lease were read.
Chairman Mullins stated that City of Fairhope has taken more
responsibility toward up -keep of airport than has AAA.
Letter from Mr. George R. Brothers, dated January 31, 1966 was read.
Letter stated that bids on T-hangers for airport were being received.
After low bid is received, financing procedures will be effected.
When financing commitment is received, prospective tenants will be
approached to see if they will be willing to pay rental in accor-
dance with bank set-up.
Mr. Brothers stated that bank would be unwilling to sign a ten
year contract unless there was a firm lease and double 3ength of
time.
Mr. Brothers discussed open space hangers in comparison with 4-T
hangers in row.
Cost of hangers discussed by Mr. Brothers, as follows:
Unit Cost $3,000.00 per hanger.
Basic T-2 hangers with no partition would be $5,760.00, and with
concrete footings would be another $2,000.00, or approximately $8,000.00.
Hangers with concrete curtain walls, concrete floor, etc., would
run approximately $12,000.00.
Mr. Lacey requested Mr. Brothers to submit plan so board could take
action.
Mr. Brothers ask board to inform him in which area hangers are to be
located so he may determine how building to be set up. Mr. Brothers
to send proposed plans so Board may discuss same at meeting on Feb.
