MONDAY, 23 DECEMBER 1996.
PRESENT WERE MAYOR NAMES P. NIX; COUNCILMEMBERS JOHN V.
DUCK, MICHAEL A. FORD, DAVID E. BISHOP, JEANETTE PUCKETT, AND
WILLIAM H. JONES; AND DEPUTY CITY CLERK GENIECE W. JOHNSON. CITY
ATTORNEY MARION E. WYNNE AND CITY CLERK EVELYN P. PHILLIPS WERE
ABSENT.
THERE BEING A QUORUM PRESENT, MAYOR NIX CALLED THE MEETING
TO ORDER. COUNCILMEMBER DUCK MOVED TO APPROVE MINUTES OF THE
6 DECEMBER 1 996 REGULAR SESSION AS WRITTEN. SECONDED BY
COUNCILMEMBER PUCKETT, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
AT THE LAST REGULAR MEETING 16 DECEMBER 1996
COUNCILMEMBER BISHOP INTRODUCED IN WRITING AN ORDINANCE MAKING
CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE. COUNCILMEMBER BISHOP
NOW MOVED FOR FINAL ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 1005. SECONDED BY
COUNCILMEMBER JONES, MOTION FOR FINAL ADOPTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY
BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: AYE -DUCK, FORD, BISHOP, NIX, PUCKETT, AND
JONES. NAY -NONE.
COUNCILMEMBER PUCKETT INTRODUCED IN WRITING, AND MOVED FOR
THE ADOPTION OF, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION. SECONDED BY
COUNCILMEMBER FORD, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY:

WHEREAS, THAT CERTAIN STREET RUNNING EAST AND WEST THROUGH THE CENTRAL PORTION OF HEDGE
VILLA PLACE WHICH IS DESIGNATED ON THE OFFICIAL PLAT OF RECORD OF HEDGE VILLA PLACE IN THE
PROBATE RECORDS OF BALDWIN COUNTY AS EDWARD BOULEVARD, AND;
WHEREAS, THERE EXISTS AN EAST -WEST STREET ALONG THE QUARTER SECTION LINE BETWEEN INGLESIDE
AVENUE AND GREENO ROAD WHICH HAS FOR MANY YEARS BEEN KNOWN AND DESIGNATED AS EDWARDS
AVENUE, AND ;
WHEREAS, THE RECORD STREET DESIGNATED AS EDWARD BOULEVARD HAS LONG BEEN KNOWN AND
DESIGNATED AS CENTRAL BOULEVARD, AND;
WHEREAS, THE RECORD STREET NAMES AND SIMILAR AND IN CONFLICT, IT IS IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST TO
CORRECT THE RECORD BY HAVING THE NAME "EDWARD BOULEVARD" CHANGED TO READ "CENTRAL
BOULEVARD" IN THE PUBLIC RECORDS;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, As
FOLLOWS:
THAT THIS COUNCIL DOES HEREBY ACCEPT AND AFFIRM THAT THE NAME OF EDWARD BOULEVARD BE AND
HEREBY IS CHANGED TO CENTRAL BOULEVARD AND THAT THE PROBATE JUDGE OF BALDWIN COUNTY,
ALABAMA BE HEREBY IS REQUESTED TO CAUSE A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO BE FILED IN THE
MISCELLANEOUS RECORDS OF THE PROBATE COURT, THEREBY EFFECTING THE NAME CHANGE. FURTHER,
THAT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION BE FILED WITH THE BALDWIN REVENUE COMMISSIONER WITH A REQUEST
THAT THE NAME CHANGED BE IMPLEMENTED ON THE TAX PLATS AS APPROPRIATE.

FESTIVAL IN MARCH 1 997. SECTION STREET FROM MAGNOLIA SOUTH TO
GREERS, FAIRHOPE AVENUE FROM BANCROFT STREET WEST TO CHURCH
STREET, CHURCH STREET FROM THE INTERSECTION OF FAIRHOPE AVENUE TO
DELAMAR, DELAMAR FROM CHURCH STREET TO SECTION STREET, JOHNSON
STREET FROM SECTION STREET EAST TO BANCROFT STREET, AND FROM
CHURCH STREET NORTH FROM THE INTERSECTION OF FAIRHOPE AVENUE TO
THE ENTRY OF PUBLIC PARKING AREA. AFTER DISCUSSION COUNCILMEMBER
JONES MOVED TO APPROVE THE REQUEST. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER
DUCK, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

NO ACTION WAS TAKEN ON THE LAST ITEM OF THE AGENDA TO APPOINT
ONE ALTERNATE, FOR THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS, FOR A
THREE YEAR TERM.
THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS, MEETING WAS DULY ADJOURNED
AT 5:55 PM.
