HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-09-1990 Regular Meeting1114 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN Z The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 5:30 pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber; 161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on Monday, 9 July 1990. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Jeanette Puckett, David E. Bishop, Michael A. Ford,,and John V. Duck; City Attorney Marion E. Wynne and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. No one was absent. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Mayor Nix then introduced The Reverend John C. Friedman, Fairhope United Methodist Church, who had been in- vited to give an invocation in honor of new Councilmember John V. Duck. Following the invocation, Mayor Nix introduced Circuit Judge James H. Reid, 28th Judicial Circuit, who had been in- vited to administer the Oath of Office to Mr. Duck. Judge Reid did so, a signed copy of said Oath is included at the end of these minutes. Minutes of the 25 June 1990 regular session were duly approved. Councilwoman Puckett moved for the acceptance of the new Minimum Standards for Fixed Base Operators at the Fairhope Municipal Airport as presented to the Council at the last regular session with the inclusion of the following paragraph on page number 7: "e. Sale or dispensing of aviation petroleum pro- ducts is restricted to full F.B.O.'s only." Seconded by Councilman White, motion passed unanimously. Mayor Nix advised Mr. J. Hillman Griggs' term on the Medical Clinic Board -North had expired in March, 1990, and an appointment was needed. Councilman Bishop moved to reappoint Mr. Griggs to a six -year term beginning in March, 1990. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously. The Baldwin County Waste Management Plan is setting up a Citizens Advisory Board and each municipality is being asked to appoint a representative to serve on it. After discussion, Councilman Ford moved to appoint Cindy McBrearty as our representative. Seconded by Councilman Bishop, motion passed unanimously. 9 July 1990 Council reviewed an application for a Restaurant Liquor License by Katherine E. Kennerson, new owner of JULWINS' RESTAURANT, located at 411 Fairhope Avenue. No one present was opposed to this license. There was police approval of the applicant. Councilman White moved to approve the issuance of the license. Seconded by Councilwoman Puckett, motion passed unanimously. Councilman took the following action on bids: FOR READY -MIX CONCRETE IN LOAD -AND -LESS -THAN -LOAD ORDERS: VENDOR PER CU.YD. Reynolds Brothers Foley $48.75 Bid requests were sent to one other supplier, Southern Ready Mix of Mobile, but only Reynolds Brothers made a bid. They have been supplying us and give good service. It is recommended this bid be accepted.--W.Smith, Purch. Agt. Councilman Bishop moved to accept the bid as recommended, provided all specifications are met. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Council, meeting was duly adjourned at 5:40 pm. ''tip- l . .
