City C r .: The City Council of Fairhope met in special session at 6:30 p.m. City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Thursday, 22 April 1982. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Trisha Nelson, Roy C. White, and C.O. McCawley; City Attorney Jim Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. Councilmembers Sam E. Box and David E. Bishop were out of town. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss business re- lating to the Municipal Complex Civic Center project. Building Official Bob Lunsford reported on bid openings of Aprill2th, 20th and 22nd: April 12: Lighting Mack Electric $39,976 Stuart C. Irby Co. $27,228.16 Baldwin Electric $58,060.95-Alt $52,496.28 Alt $52,909.59 Electrical Supt. Aaron Norris advised revision of some of the specified items. Councilman White moved to reject all bids and re- issue specifications for new bids. Seconded by Councilman Mc - Cawley, motion passed unanimously. (Note: Unanimous indicates 4 votes: the Mayor and all 3 council members) SOUND SYSTEM Deduct for Council Add Auditorium Backgrd Page Chambers Equalize C & G Marketing (Rejected - did not bid on specified System) Adrian Johnson Co. $22,647 -3,487 $8,276 +$ 985 Musico 19,936 -3,100 $5,963 +$1100 Councilman McCawley moved to accept Musico's low bid on the Audi- torium less the background paging($16,836), and reject the Council Chambers & Equalizer system. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously. PHASE 18: Boothe Contracting $36,771 Councilman White moved to reject the bid. Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion passed unanimously. PHASE 19: Boothe Contracting $40,189 Councilman White moved -to reject the.bid. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously. vuecV 9n. No bids received Metal Roof & Parapet Flashing will be purchased. PHASE 21: Rental Properties $25,956 Adrian Johnson Co. $28,576 Councilwoman Nelson moved to reject all bids. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously. PHASE 22: Home Tile & Equip. $15,466.72 Rental Properties (Rejected -Did not bid to specs) Councilwoman Nelson moved to rejct the bid and authorize the Mayor to negotiate a price, subject to approval by the City Attorney. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously. April 22: Phase 22a: Pierce Tile Co. $18,751.00 United Tile Co. $ 8,500.00 Councilman White moved to accept the low bid, provided all specifications are met. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously. 4/22/82 370 Mayor Nix advised that Architect Wood recommended the City relieve the Contractors of the $1,000.00 umbrella extra liability insurance coverage now being required in addition to regular liability and other insurance coverages.legally required of.them. After some discussion Councilman White moved to waive the $1,000,000 umbrella excess,liability coverage requirement, and to authorize the City's purchase of this coverage. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously. Building Official Lunsford advised Council that the Projection Screen needed for the Auditorium could be purchased at $1,646.40 plus freight. Councilman McCawley moved to authorize this purchase. Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion passed unanimously. Meeting was duly adjourned.
