FAIRHOPE AIRPORT BOARD
NOVEMBER 23, 1965
8:00 a.m., Fairhope, Alabama
Members present: Mr. Niemeyer, Dr. Mullins, Mr, Lacey
Visitors: Mr. Witznadel, Mayor Macon, Mr. Robertson and
Mr. Ack Moore.
Chairman Mullins opened meeting. Minutes of previous meeting
read and approved.
Mr. Witznadel informed board that hangers had been discussed
with Mr. Brothers of AAA.
Dr. Mullins ask for a presentation of plans and pictures of
hangers. Five or more hangers can be erected according to Mr.
Witznadel with good rental possibilities. These to be [0rected
of creosote posts with wooden arches and covered with metal
on a concrete slab.
Mr. Moore discussed needed land for expansion; three and one-
half acres with a fee semple ten and one-half acre easement.
Dr. Mullins ask if board should turn this over to the city.
Mr. Lacey suggested that the board request City to authorize
opening of negotations by board for purchase of property, and if
city has authority to do so, suggested that Mr. Warley find out
price of property. Maps and property descriptions to be given
to Mr. Warley.
Mr. Macon ask if board should authorize some individual to
make offer for land, or for city to make authorization to
board for land purchase.
Mr. Lacey moved to ask Mr. Warley to make appraisal of land
and at what price per acre; to offer $450.80 per acre and
$50.00 per acre for end zone clearance for both ends of
runway. Mr. Niemeyer seconded, motion carried.
Mr. Lacey discussed prolibility of land condemnation by Airport
Board, therefore purchasing at a more reasonable price.
Dr. Mullins discussed grass at airport and suggested that the
board write leters expressing thanks to the city and to Mr.
Harold Yates and Mr. Andy Mortimer.
Dr. Mullins notified the board of his intentions of resigning
as member of board and suggested Mr. John Robertson as new member.
Upon motion, duly seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
