HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-23-1981 Regular Meeting�W STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 7:00 p.m. City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday, 23 February, 1981. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers David Ed Bishop, Roy C. White, Trisha Nelson, Sam E. Box, and C.O. McCawley; City Attorney John Duck and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. Minutes of the 9 February 1981 regular session were duly approved. Councilman Box moved for final adoption of ORDINANCE No. 666, establishing new gas rates for all City customers. Seconded by Councilman White, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Bishop moved to authorize requests for bids on some 36 Utility Poles and lighting for the Girls Softball Field by the Electric Department. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Box moved to authorize requests for bids on gasoline and on a sanitation contract. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Bishop introduced an Ordinance to be known as the Flood Plain Ordinance. A written request from the Jr. Food Stores chain for a refund of their business and beer licenses purchased in January for a store on North Section Street which they.have now decided to close was discussed. Councilman Box moved to deny the request. Seconded by Councilman McCawley motion passed unanimously. Councilman Box moved to hear the following business not on the Agenda. Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion passed unanimously. Mr. Ack Moore presented plans and estimates on paving, drainage, and curb & gutter work on various areas of the City and around the City. After some discussion, Councilman White moved to hold a public hearing on a date to be determined in the near future to further discuss methods of financing a pub- lic improvements project. Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion passed unanimously. Councilman McCawley moved to pay bills as presented. Second- ed by Councilman White, motion passed unanimously. (2/23/81) 259 Councilman Nelson moved to hear the following business not on the Agenda, upon a request to be heard by Mr. Jack Stipes. Seconded by Councilman McCawley, motion passed unanimously: Mr. Stipes shared his thoughts on the Fluoride Ordinance adopted on February 9, 1981. Mayor Nix asked Council if anyone wish- ed to take any action. There was no response. Meeting was adjourned. ayor City Cfferk
