HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-07-2016 Regular MeetingMinutes of Special Meeting of Fairhope Airport Authority September 7, 2016 The Fairhope Airport Authority met September 7, 2016 at 4:30PM in the Mayor's Conference Room at City Hall at 161 N Section Street. Present: Joe McEnerney, Chairman, Pam Caudill, Vince Boothe, Jack Burrell, Ray Hix, Tom Scheck, and Chip Groner. Also present was Josh Myrick, attorney. Cynthia A Boothe took the minutes. The minutes of the August 16, 2016 meeting were considered and approved on a motion by Pam Caudill, second by Chip Groner and unanimously passed. Approval to make application for FAA 2016 AIP grant of $2,839,388.00 and ALDOT 2016 grant of $157,744.00 for the east side construction project: Vince Boothe gave an overview of the AIP 2016 project. He stated that the FAA grant would finish everything except the final four inches of pavement on the apron and taxiways and some minor drainage work. Joe McEnerney added that the last phase of the project (in 2017) would cost approximately $2,000,000 and would complete the paving on the east side. After a group discussion a motion was made to accept the grant by Jack Burrell, second by Pam Caudill and unanimously passed. Approval of repairs for the AWOS PCA voice board (sound card) for $3,103.23: Joe McEnerney stated that the voice card on the AWOS had to be replaced and after a group discussion a motion was made by Jack Burrell to make the necessary repairs, second by Vince Boothe and unanimously passed. Other Business: Pam Caudill stated that the new marketing brochures for the airport should be ready by Friday for Jack and Joe plan to take the brochures to the NASAO convention. Chip Groner stated that he had attended the third meeting of the General Aviation Alliance of Alabama. He said that they are a newly formed group that represents the 72 airports in Alabama that do not have airline service. Terry Withee and Linda Miller expressed concerns about continuing noise problems from aircraft in the area but stated the noise from Navy training operations at the Airport is "100% improved". Jack Burrell stated that Continental Motors is closing their facility in San Antonio and some of their employees from this facility may be relocated to Fairhope. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 5:15PM.
