Room 1, in the Civic Center at 161 N Section St.
Present: Charles Zunk, chairman; other members present: Charlie Bassett, Joe
McEnerney, Rod Platt & Pam Caudill. Absent were Jack Burrell and Ray Hix. Cynthia A
Boothe took the minutes.
The minutes of the April 21, 2015 meeting were considered and approved on a motion
by Rod Platt, second by Charlie Bassett and unanimously carried.
Discussion of Airport Authority document storage: Charles Zunk stated that the Airport
Authority has documents in storage at the City Public Works Building at 555 S Section St.
They are at this time being stored in the back storage room that is not climate
controlled and there is not a place to spread the documents out when needed. He
stated that the documents need to be moved and that there is a need for three more
fireproof cabinets and another flat file cabinet. After a group discussion it was decided
that information and figures for new cabinets and accommodations for them would be
gathered for the next meeting.
Update on FY2015 AIP Grant: Charles Zunk stated that he has approved the engineering
plans and the bid package and they have gone out for bids which will be opened the first
week in June. The plans will then go to the FAA and ALDOT for their approval.
Discussion of June 2015 Air Race Classic: Pam Caudill stated that there are 3 pole
banners that will go up about 10 days to two weeks before the race and that the total
costs for them was $291.03. She stated that there are many flyers advertising the race
going out as well as a radio spot and emails blasts from several sources. The Fairhope
Courier is also doing an article and area merchants are going to be offering discounts to
pilots during the event and she is hoping to have about 20 fence banners by the end of
the week.
Before the Treasurer's report, Charles Zunk stated that Bill Ross of Continental Motors
wanted to report that they had recently had a "Learn to Fly Day' and that they had 61
flights for the day.
Treasurer's Report: Joe McEnerney stated that the financials are all in order except for
one small correction that needs to be made and that he was in contact with Jill Cabines
about making that correction.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:55PM.
