BERGLIN, TREASURER FAIRROPE SINGLE TAX CORPORATION ADMINISTERING FAIRHOPE SINGLE TAX COLONY ESTABLISHED 1895 336-340 FAIRHOPE AVE. FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA 36532 Sept. 8, 1971 Hon. A. C. Macon, Mayor City of Fairhope Fairhope, Alabama Dear Mayor Macon: Your letter of July 12 requesting the cooperation of our cor- poration in sharing the cost of the recently completed street im- provements on Oak Ave. and Church St. did not reach us in time for attention at our last council meeting in July. Mr. Arnold was out of state for a vacation trip until the middle of August so was de- layed in his check on the extent and expense of the work with Mr. Yohn, as you suggested. He did have a report ready for our council at its first reg- ular meeting this month, September 2 and the council authorized an appropriation $2,500.00 and our check for that amount is herewith enclosed. Considering that the Colony had previously initiated and paid for much of the construction on Church St. north of Magnolia Ave. to Oak Ave. that benefitted Colory_land and that a large part of the present expense there was for additional improvements of major benefit to non participating private land owners, the councillo :ain consideration was the additional improvements on Church St. South of Magnolia Ave. and on Oak Ave. It its discussion of your request that the Colony share the cost of this improvement, the council expressed a desire to have advance notice of like projects in the future and an opportunity to review the p3Ans before the start of construction. Sincerely yours, C. A. Gaston, Secretary
