HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-27-1971 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the Adult and Tourist Recreation Building on Tues- day, April 27, 1971 at 7:30 P. M. with the following members present: mayor R. C. Macon, Councilmen: James P. Nix, John A. Robertson, Robert H. Cowen, H:- G. Bishop and Sam E. Box. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Robert- son that Ordinance No. 462, An Ordinance Amending Section 13, District Boundaries, by rezoning from R-1 to R-3 property of Mary Bolden, be adopted as introduced at the regular meeting of April 12, 1971. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Box that Ordinance No. 463, An Ordinance Amending Section 13, District Boundaries by rezoning from R-2 to B-1 property on N. E. Corner of Nichols and Young Streets, be adopted as introduced at the regular meeting of April 12, 1971. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Robert- son that Mr. Jason Kutak be reappointed to the Library Board for five year term ending May, 1976. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Cowen that Mr. Claude Arnold be reappointed to the Planning and. Zon- ing Commission for six year term ending May 25, 1977. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Cowen that Workmen's Compensation Insurance be approved for payment. Motion carried. The following bids were received for two window Air Conditioner,units for Health Clinic. Ruffles Co. 19,000 BTU $630.00 Romac Co. 17,000 BTU $563.92 Western Auto 17,000 BTU $478.00 Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Cowen that City accept low bid of Western Auto. Motion carried. The following bids were received on Electric pole line hardware. Hatfield Co. Moore -Handley $5,975.00 $6,062.68 Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Cowen that City accept low bid of Hatfield & Co. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Cowen that $20,000.00 be transferred from Gas Gross Revenue Account to the General Fund for operating expense. Motion carried. Petition to extend 6" water line on North Mobile St., was presented. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Council- man Cowen that City lay 6" water line and install fire plug on North Mobile Street. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Cowen that City prepare specification and ask for bids on a transit. motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Cowen that the following Resolution be adopted. motion carried. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on the 14th day of April, 1971, a letter was received from Fairhope Title and Survey Company, Inc., request- ing cooperation by the mayor and City of Fairhope, Alabama in allowing Fairhope Single Tax Corporation to install street improvements from the block of morphy Avenue between Church Street and Summit Street, the improvements to consist of sani- tary sewer, standard plant mix asphalt pavement, concrete curb and gutters, concrete sidewalks, and WHEREAS, the City of Fairhope is desirous of cooperating with Fairhope Single Tax Corporation in this venture. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that John Robertson be, and he is hereby appointed to work with Fairhope Single Tax Corporation in said improvement program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Fairhope Single Tax Corpora- tion submit it's plans and specifications to comply with the City Ordinance now existing for street improvements. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that John V. Duck, City Attorney, cooperate with Mr. John Robertson and Fairhope Single Tax Co- operation in�.this venture. ADOPTED this the _day of ATTEST: City Clerk Mayor 1971. Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Box that the following Resolution be adopted: motion carried. • RESOLUTION Resolution authorizing filing of a request with the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration, Department of the Interior, for an additional grant under the Federal !dater Pollution Control Act, (33 U.S.C. 466, et seq., as amended) because of Pederal Impact. WHEREAS,,:under the terms of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, (33 U. S. C. , 466 et seq., as amended) the United States of America has authorized the making of additional grants to applicants to assist in"' -the construction of pro- jects, the need for which is due in part to Federal insti- tutions or Federal construction activity: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY,The City of Fairhope 1. That R. C. Macon, mayor, be and he is hereby authorized to execute and file an application on behalf of the City of Fairhope with the Federal Water Pollution Control Adminis- tration, Department of the Interior, for an additional grant to aid in the construction of Sewage Improvement Project # WPC Ala.- 204. 2. That R. C. Macon, mayor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to furnish such information as the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration may reasonably request in con- nection with the application which is herein authorized to be filed, and sign all necessary documents. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Nix that Purchasing Agent be authorized to get bids on truck load of gas pipe. Motion carried. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
