County of Baldwin
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the Adult and Tourist Recreation Building on Morphy Avenue
on Monday, March 89 1971 at 7:30 R.M. with the following members
present: Mayor R. C. Macon, Councilmen: James P. Nix, John A.
Robertson, Hobert H. Cowen, H. G. Bishop and Sam E. Box.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
This being date set for public hearing on rezoning from R-2 to
B-1, property on N. E. corner of Nichols and Young, letter of
protest from Imo. and Mrs. Henry L. Bosby was presented, no other
protests were heard. No action taken at this time and the owner
of one lot in question was advised to present his case to the
Board of Adjustment.
Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Cowen
that the City advertise for public hearing on rezoning from R-1
to R-3 property of Mar Bolden off of Young Street and in the
Police Jurisdiction. Meeting to be held in conjunction with
the regular Council meeting on April 12, 1971. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded b Councilman Nix that
$159000.00 from the Electric Fund and�'lOtOOO.00 from the Gas
Fund be transferred to the General Fund. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Nix_xthat
Kurlane Lane, from Ashley Drive 240 feet west, be included in
the 1970 Street Improvement program subject to owner paying cash
for the paving and installing sewer line. Motion carried.
Motion by JCouncilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Box that
Mayor be authorized to pay interest on Pier Note and extend note
for 90 days. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Robertson
that the City Clerk be authorized to cash 1970 Street Improve-
ment Savings Certificate for deposit in 1970 Street Improvement
Account. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Nix that
the bill of M. C. Williams Contracting Company in the amount of
$189845.75 be approved for payment. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Nix that City
purchase enough 6" pipe,along with 8" pife authorized, to make
full load. Motion carried.
Ifiotion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Cowen that
City crews be authorized to install curb and gutter on Barclay
Street. Motion carried.
It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion
carried.
