STATE OF ALABAMA
COUNTY OF BALDWIN
THE City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the Adult and Tourist Recreation Building on Murphy Avenue,
Monday, February 22, 1971 at 7:30 P.M. with the following
members present: Mayor R. C.. Macon, Councilmen: James P. Nix,
John A. Robertson, Henry G. Bishop and Sam E. Box. Councilman
Robert H. Cowen being absent.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that the
City appropiate funds to send five firemen to Fire School for
one week at $185.00 per .man with the exception of City employees
who will be paid regular salary plus expenses. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Boxi that
$109000.00 be transferred from Gas Gross Revenue to General
Fund. Motion carried.
Councilman Box moved adoption of the following Resolution which
motion was seconded by Councilman Bishop and carried:
RESOLUTION
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fairhope, Alabama, that
WHEREAS, the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration
has offered to the City of Fairhope, Alabama, a Federal grant
not to exceed $4.05,900.00 to assist the City in financing the
construction of sewerage facilities under Project No. WPC-ALA-204 ,
and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest that the offer of the
aforesaid Federal grant be promptly accepted by the city officials
of the City of Fairhope, Alabama.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it hereby resolved by the City Council
of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, that the offer of a Federal
grant to the City of Fairhope, Alabama, not to exceed $405,900.00
t6 assist in financing the construction of sewerage facilities
under Project No. WPC-ALA-204- be hereby accepted by the City
of Fairhope, Alabama, and the assurances upon which this offer is
contingent be hereby given.
The Mayor of the City of Fairhope be, and is hereby authorized
and instructed to execute D.H.E.W. Form No. 2690-1 formally
accepting the aforesaid Federal grant. The Mayor is further
authorized to execute for and on behalf of the City any and all
instruments of any nature or description necessary to be
executed on behlaf of the City in,connection with the acceptance
of said Federal grant and the work to be constructed in connectio n
therewith.
Adopted this the 22nd day of February, 1971.

Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Robertson that
the City purchase 4.00 ft 8" water pipe to extend water line from
Nichols Street down Greeno to new Medical Clinic Building. Motion
carried.
Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Box that City
Superintendent be authorized to have necessary repairs made on
Natural Gas Motor at Filter Plant. Motion carried.

Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Nix that
Moore Engineering Company be authorized to negotiate with
Contractor for resurfacing N. Church Street and Oak when City
crews have completed drainage, sidewalks, curb and gutter.
Motion carried.
Mr. St. John, Engineer, met with the Council to report on
progress of new Sub -Station and lines.
It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion
carried.
