Home My WebLink About04-23-1968 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN THE City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, April 2AIv 1968 at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Councilmen: Spader, Reynolds, Stipes, Gaston and Stine. Mayor Macon, City Attorney, City Engineer and Executive Assistant being absent. In the absence of the Mayor, R. Roy Reynolds, Mayor Pro Tem presided at the meeting. , Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that the minutes of the previous regular meeting be approved. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Spader that theI following Ordinance be introduced: Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 396 AN ORDINANCE RESCINDING ORDINANCE NO. 388 ADOPTED FEBRUARY 12,1968 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAM THAT THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE NO. 388, ADOPTED ON THE 12th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1968 BE AND IS HEREBY RESCINDED. ORDINANCE NO. 388 . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE THAT any person desiring to become a candidate for the office of Mayor in any regular Municipal Election shall pay into the City Treasury a qualifying fee of Fifty Dollars ($5000). BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that any person desiring to become a candidate for the 'office of Council- man in any regular Municipal Election shall pay into the City Treasury a qualifying fee of Twenty -Five dollars (825.00). This Ordinance shall become effective upon its adoption and publication as required by law. Adopted this the 12th day of February., 1968 and published in the Fairhope Courier in its issue of , 1968. This being date set for opening bids on new Police car the follo ing bids were received: Carey and Mike Motor. Company $2,498.95 Gaston Motor Company 29741.66 Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that the City accept low bid of Carey and Mike motor Company. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stipes that th following Ordinance be introduced: Motion carried. GRADE ORDINANCE NO. 392 AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE GR DE OF A CERTAIN PORTI OF FAIRHOPE AVENUE AND THE GRADE OF THE CURBS ON BOTH SIDES OF SUCH PORTION OF SAID STREET, AND THE GRADE OF THE SIDEWALK ON BOT SIDES OF SAID PORTION 06 SAID STREET. I Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that the following Ordinance be introduced: motion carried. IMPROVEMENT ORDINANCE NO. 393 AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS ON FAIRHOPE AVENUE RUNNING FROM AT TIS INTERSECTION OF SECTION STREET EAST 5,317 feet TO THE EDGE OF THE PAVEMENT OF GREENO ROAD IN THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE ALABAMA. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Spader that the following Ordinance be introduced: Motion carried. GRADE ORDINANCE NO. 394 AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE GRADEADE OF A CERTAIN PORTIOi OF SECTION STREET AND THE GRADE OF THE CURBS ON BOTH SIDE OF SUCH PORTION OF SAID STREET, AND THE GRADE OF THE SIDEWALK ON BOTH SIDES OF SAID PORTION OF SAID STREET. Motion by Councilman Spader seoonded by Councilman Stine that the following Ordinance be introduced: Motion carried. IMPROVEMENT ORDINANCE NO. 395 AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS N SECTION STREET RUNNING FROM AT ITS INTERSECTION OF FAIRHOPE AVENUE NORTH TO THE CENTERLINE OF NORTH CREEK DRIVE IN THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Spader that Mr. James Lipscomb be reappointed to the Fairhope Library Board for a five (5) year term ending May 4, 1973. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stine that City Superintendent be authorized to solicits- bids on 4,000 ft. of 2" gas pipe and 12,000 ft. of 1" gas pipe. Bids to be opened at the next regular meeting of the,City Council on May 13, 1968. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Gaston that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
