HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-04-1964 Regular Meeting29, AIRPORT BOARD December 4, 1964 Members present: Dr. Mullins, Mr. Lacey, and Mr. Niemeyer Guests: Mr. Witznadel, Manager of the Airport Minutes of the April 8, 1964 meeting were read by the Chairman and approved. Mr. Witznadel noted that gasoline prices are 46 and 48 cents per gallon. Dr. Mullins recognized the formation of a new Airport Board. Mr. Lacey moved, Mr. Niemeyer seconded, that Dr. Mullins be appointed as Chairman. Motion carried. Dr. Mullins moved that Mr. Niemeyer be appointed Secretary of the Board. Mr. Lacey seconded. Carried• Mr. Lacey suggested that a regular meeting date be established. It was agreed that regular monthly meetings should be held on the 1st Friday of each month at 1:00 P. M. at the Airport. January meeting to be an exception and will be held on the 2nd Friday due to holiday. Dr. Mullins suggested that the following items be spread upon the minutes: 1. Final grant from F.A.A. 2. Engineer's final estimate of construction cost 3. Final payments received from State, County, So. Industries do City The Chairman commented on the fine ob the County did in paving the road in time for the Dedication. Mr. Niemeyer suggested that a letter be sent to the County Commissioners thanking them for their efforts. Dr. Mullins suggested that a newspaper account of the Dedi- cation be spread upon the minutes. The Chairman reviewed the "Minimum Standards for Fixed Base Operators" and the Lease Agreement with AAA. Mr. Witznadel agreed to bring insurance coverage records to next meeting. It was suggested that a letter be sent to Mr. Rountree and Mr. Barfield asking for their recommendations on the following: 1. erosion problem 2. question of runway deterioration 3. State refund of tax money 4. increasing strength of runway Grass cutting on the field was discussed. (continued) -2- Dec. 8, 1964 minutes coot. Mr. Witznadel reported vandalism on the airstrip. Having avigation easement extended was discussed. Mr. Witznadel agreed to submit a letter of charges to the Board at the next meeting. He reported that approximately 15 planes per day land on the strip. .approx. 20 students learningg�t�o fly. . .and the purchase of a new 2-35 single engine Z00 h. p. Cherokee. Procurement of Air National Guard,Ambulance Unit was discussed. Dr. Mullins suggested commercial advertising for billboard at the field. Mr. Lacey moved to adjourn. Carried.
