Agenda items:
CR32 Easement — Chuck reviewed the events leading up to today
regarding the request from the County on an easement regarding the
culverts that run under Highway 32 on the airport property. After having
submitted the last request for information to the County we have not heard
anything back.
Bid for Grounds Maintenance — Chuck said he and Ken Eslava had opened
bids on grounds maintenance for the airport on March 16. Three bids were
received:
Bushwackers, LLC(Daphne, AL) 35,000
Landscape Workshop(Foley, AL) 54,110
Trojan Landscape(Summerdale, AL) 94,780
After it was determined they met all specs, it was recommended to accept
Bushwackers. Chuck mentioned that they had also done the work last year.
Chuck said they will cut nine times a year. Dan Stankoski moved, Pam
Caudill 2"d authorizing award of low bid to Bushwackers. Motion passed
unanimously.
Treasury Report — The financial reports were reviewed. Chuck said we will
be hit with insurance, maintenance and other bills normal over the summer.
He said further he does not expect any more grants this fiscal year. He said
we need to get with Volkert and have them do the terminal area study and
then we will present it to the FAA. He mentioned the Alabama Conference
of Airports that will be in April and be held in Mobile this year. He
encouraged the members to attend just to get to know people.
The technical school was brought up by Howard Hadley and Chuck gave
him a report on what we are trying to do, playing a non active role in talks,
but there is a real need and we would love to locate it at the airport.
Mission Statement — This was brought up once again and Pam said she has
made all suggested additions — it will be brought up for a vote and the April
meeting:
Mission Statement
The H.L. Sonny Callahan Airport serves the current and future general and
corporate business aviation needs of Baldwin County; plans, operates, and
maintains the safety and appearance of the Airport to meet the highest
standards; manages numerous tenant agreements and facilities located on
airport land; and promotes the development of airport land and facilities for
future aviation and commercial related services.
The meeting was turned over to Pam who had given to the members
a printout of a preliminary outline for a Five Year Strategic Plan and she
mentioned that Ken had one he had done from previous years — and also
a printout on Fairhope Airport Authority Goals. Discussion followed but no
action was taken.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
