HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-17-2009 Regular MeetingThe Fairhope Airport Authority met Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street at 4:30 PM Present: Chuck Zunk, Chairman; Pam Caudill, Ken Knutsen, Howard Hadley, Dan Stankoski, members. David Bagwell, Attorney; Betty Rivenbark, Secretary. Absent: Joe McEnerney, Charlie Bassett The minutes of February 17, 2009 were considered and approved on motion by Ken Knutsen, seconded by Dan Stankoski. Chuck welcomed Howard Hadley as a new authority member. Agenda items: CR32 Easement — Chuck reviewed the events leading up to today regarding the request from the County on an easement regarding the culverts that run under Highway 32 on the airport property. After having submitted the last request for information to the County we have not heard anything back. Bid for Grounds Maintenance — Chuck said he and Ken Eslava had opened bids on grounds maintenance for the airport on March 16. Three bids were received: Bushwackers, LLC(Daphne, AL) 35,000 Landscape Workshop(Foley, AL) 54,110 Trojan Landscape(Summerdale, AL) 94,780 After it was determined they met all specs, it was recommended to accept Bushwackers. Chuck mentioned that they had also done the work last year. Chuck said they will cut nine times a year. Dan Stankoski moved, Pam Caudill 2"d authorizing award of low bid to Bushwackers. Motion passed unanimously. Treasury Report — The financial reports were reviewed. Chuck said we will be hit with insurance, maintenance and other bills normal over the summer. He said further he does not expect any more grants this fiscal year. He said we need to get with Volkert and have them do the terminal area study and then we will present it to the FAA. He mentioned the Alabama Conference of Airports that will be in April and be held in Mobile this year. He encouraged the members to attend just to get to know people. The technical school was brought up by Howard Hadley and Chuck gave him a report on what we are trying to do, playing a non active role in talks, but there is a real need and we would love to locate it at the airport. Mission Statement — This was brought up once again and Pam said she has made all suggested additions — it will be brought up for a vote and the April meeting: Mission Statement The H.L. Sonny Callahan Airport serves the current and future general and corporate business aviation needs of Baldwin County; plans, operates, and maintains the safety and appearance of the Airport to meet the highest standards; manages numerous tenant agreements and facilities located on airport land; and promotes the development of airport land and facilities for future aviation and commercial related services. The meeting was turned over to Pam who had given to the members a printout of a preliminary outline for a Five Year Strategic Plan and she mentioned that Ken had one he had done from previous years — and also a printout on Fairhope Airport Authority Goals. Discussion followed but no action was taken. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned. Chuck Zunk, Chairman Betty Ri enbark, Secretary
