HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-28-1949 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The Town Council of the Tovci of Fairhope met in regular s ession at the Town Hall Monday, March 28, 1949 with the following members present: Mayor T.J.Klumpp, Councilmen: M.O.Berglin, J. T. Bradford, C. B. Niemeyer, and E. B. Overton. Councilman Steele being absent. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. The application of Mrs. V.J. Allegri Jr. for building permit on Section and Delmar was discussed and tabled for further consideration. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman berglin that the Council accept the resignation of C. B. Niemeyer as Town Councilman. Motion carried. Councilman Bradford offered the following resolution and moved its adoption seconded by Councilman Overton. BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Fairhope: FIRST: That C. B. Niemeyer be and he is hereby employed as Superintendent of the Fairhope electric system, its water and sewer systems, its street maintenance and construction, its park system and of it public works of whatever kind. Such Superb intendent shall be and hereby is clothed with the authority and power and charged with the duty of managing and operating such systems and works, of employing the employees and of directing and controlling the employees of the systems and works as to the work to be done, the time and manner of doing the same; he shall see that such systems and works are kept in proper repair and operation; he shall act as purchasing agent for the Town and make all purchases for such systems and works and for the Town,provided that no purchase of any one article or combination of articles. 1Xxex at one time in excess of $250.00 shall be made unless and until the same has been approved and authorized by the Town Council; he shall see that all bills for service of such systems and works are promptly presented and collections thereof made; he shall keep a perpetual inventory of all equipment and supplies of the several systems and works; he shall keep a full and complete financial state- ment of the several funds of the town and shall have all such data available for the Town Council at its second monthly meeting of each month. SECOND: Such Superintendent shall devote all his working time to the duties prescribed in this resolution. He may be dismissed with or without cause, upon 30 days notice. For his services he shall be paid the sum of $400.00 a month payable on the first day of each month. He shall commence such duties April 1, 1949 f and shall continue in such position until dis- missed by the Council or until this Council's Donations: Organic School Public School County Club Red Cross Bldg.
