HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-18-1944 Special MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN A special meeting of the Council of the Town of Fairhope, was held Monday, September 189, 1944 at 800 P*M. for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the regular Municipal election held on September 18, 1944. Mayor Howard Ruge, Councilmen Sam Dyson, C. A. Gaston, H'. P. Kemper, W. 0. Keeble and J. 0., Stimpson were present. The Council canvassed the returns of the election board as follows: For Mayors Howard Ruge 135 For Councilmen: Seat #1 C., A., Gaston 120 Seat #2. J. 0. Stimpson 126 Carl Beiser 1 Seat #3 W. 0. Keeble 130 Nick Cramer 1 Seat #4 H. P. Kemper 13f /% Wm Price 1 Seat #5 J. H. Bennett 128 Lee Schnitzer 1 After reading the results, it was moved by Councilman C. A. Gaston, seconded by Councilman J. 0. Stimpson that the Council accept the report of the election board and declare the following elected to office. Mayors Howard Ruge, Councilmens C. A. Gaston, W. 0. Keeble, H. P. Kamper, J. 0. Stimpson and J. H. Bennett. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman W. 0. Keeble seconded by Councilman H. P. Kemper that the Council give the election board a vote of thanks. Motion carried. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried. Stimpson that the football field lights be installed to make the field available for night football games for Fairhope Public High School. Motion carried-. Councilman H. P. Kamper moved that the following resolu.tion be adopted seconded by Councilman C. A. Gaston. BE IT RESOLVED that R. C. Yohn be and he is designated to make up the assessment roll of all property and subjects of taxation in the Town of Yairhepe, for the taxes to become due December 19 1944.
