HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-18-2007 Regular MeetingThe Fairhope Airport Authority met Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 3:30 PM at the Municipal Complex, 161 N. Section Street in the Conference Room Present: Charles Zunk, Chairman; Ken Knutsen, Charlie Bassett, Joe McEnerney, Mike Ford. David Bagwell, Attorney; Betty Rivenbark, Secretary The minutes of the November 20, 2007 meeting were considered and approved as written on motion by Charlie Bassett, 2"d by Mike Ford and unanimously carried. Chuck also reported on the meeting he had with Volkert & Assoc and included discussion of the AWOS system we will be receiving in the near future. Festival of Flight 2008 — A report was given by Charlie who said that he had attended County work sessions and that we are on the agenda for the January 3 meeting and that we've asked for $29,500 from the County and that he has also been in front of the City Council and asked for $51,000 + in -kind services. He said that everyone was to busy to spearhead the event for 08 and that King Palmer said he would do it for $1,500 a month with the understanding that he has to raise this amount in sponsorships or he would not be paid. There is a cap fee of $15,000. Chuck said he has put together an agreement with King Palmer, the only question right now is the insurance and that they are talking with Robbie Robertson about it. They assured the members that King is actively trying to raise the money for sponsorships. The 2008 Festival of Flight has been scheduled for May 17th and has been cut back to a one day event. Further discussion led to Chuck asking for a resolution to enter into a contract with the event planner, King Palmer. A resolution was passed authorizing him to go ahead with the Festival of Flight with an anticipated cash budget not to exceed $110,000 and authorizes Charles Zunk to enter into a contract with the event planner for a fee not to exceed $15,000. Charles Bassett made the motion, Joe McEnerney 2"d and it passed unanimously. Treasurer's Report — This was given by Joe McEnerney. Chuck said he had e-mailed everyone prior to the meeting. He went over the balances and asked if anyone had any questions. There were none. New Business — Chuck reported that the company he mentioned at the last meeting, Day Jet had started doing business at the airport and everything is going well. He went on to say that Bryan Lewis had retired and that he and Charlie plan to go out and talk to the new manager in January. one ting was duly ad' urned at 4:15 PM.
