HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-08-2007 Regular MeetingThe Fairhope Airport Authority met Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 4:00 PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street. Present: Charles Zunk, Chairman; Ken Knutsen, Charlie Bassett, Mike Ford, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary Absent: Louis Mapp, Mike Baugh, Joe McEnerney The minutes of the April 10, 2007 meeting were duly considered and amended to read in paragraph where proposed new lease agreement for T- hangar rental and proposed amount were discussed.... that the lease agreement form was approved but the amount to charge would be looked into. This motion to amend was made by Charlie Bassett, 2"d by Ken Knutsen and unanimously carried. Land Acquisition — Chuck Zunk reported that all the land has been closed on. Establishment of Capital Improvement Fund — Chuck said we are going to be reimbursed by FAA & ALDOT and discussion was held on whether or not to set up a separate account to earmark this money. All to think about it and more discussion next meeting. Chuck said he got a sense from the authority that they would like to earmark the funds. Report on discussion regarding North RPZ. Chuck said he had tried to contact the parties interested in wanting to use this land since our last meeting and had not heard anything from them. T-hangar rental rate - Chuck said he would like to get this done. That as soon as the asphalt is done probably within the next 15 days we will be ready to get the tenants in. Chuck recused himself and turned the meeting over to Charlie Bassett to Chair. Further discussion led to a motion by Mike Ford to set a month to month rent of $320.00 for the T-hangars. Motion carried with one abstention by Chuck Zunk. Taxiway construction statue — Chuck said it is moving along, he is meeting with them every other week and will be out there this week. Festival of Flight — Chuck reported from all reports we are in good shape on our money. Charlie Bassett gave a report and said we have gotten significant sponsorships. Ken Knutsen reported on the reception on Saturday night and said that over 225 people were on the list and the formal invitations were going out this week. The breakfast Saturday morning was talked about with Jeff Sessions and what we hope to accomplish by these discussions. Status of insurance — Chuck reported we have gotten all of them in but one at a very good rate. Report on Alabama Airport Conference — Chuck said it was a good networking conference and he had e-mailed everyone a report. Report from Law Enforcement and Security Committee — Withdrawn from the Agenda. Annexation of new land acquisition — Discussion was held on the best way to proceed with this. Mike Ford mentioned several things we should consider before proceeding, not want to upset the apple cart. He said he would talk to the Mayor to get his opinion on this. Rip rap status — Chuck reported that the rip rap supplier is now out of rip rap. All agreed we needed to get this project complete. Report on compatible land use of neighboring land — Chuck said he had several phone calls about this and that we are doing nothing gratis, if someone wants to buy the land at market price we will talk to them. Treasurer's Report — There was not one but Chuck said he had e-mailed everyone. Payment of bills — Nothing to report New Business — Mike Ford reported on the Special Planning & Zoning meeting and language that require that no there would be no exposed metal on metal buildings. Further discussion led to members feeling we should get with Volkert to come up with a drawing/layout of what we want at the airport. Louis Mapp joined the meeting in progress. After discussion about the rate to charge for the t-hangars, a second vote was taken so as to clear up some possible confusion about the first vote earlier in the meeting. Chuck recused himself and turned the meeting over to Charlie Bassett to Chair. Further discussion led to a motion by Mike Ford to set a month to month rent of $320.00 for the T-hangars.
