Gary Gover was also present as a guest. Recreation Updates: Pat White informed the Rec Board of the following: ●Engineering firm approved to start the feasibility study for new property was sent the contract to execute and send back to the City. Upon receipt of the contract executed, we can then proceed with issuing a PO to the firm. They want to act quickly, so they could potentially be down here in the next few weeks. ●Engineering on the football press box, those contracts have also gone out and as soon as we receive that executed contract, we can issue a PO for that to begin. ●The bathroom building in the stadium is in its beginning stages. The contractor told me today they intend to pour the foundation/concrete next week. ●FHS football homecoming is scheduled for next week, September 27th. ●Fall youth baseball, softball, football, and soccer are all in full swing. ●Fairhope Soccer Club will be hosting their annual Halloween Blast tournament at the soccer complex on October 26th through October 27th. ●Update on Rec Center memberships as of this point this year are up roughly 10% than this time last year. There are currently 1,252 active memberships, not active members (memberships consist of single, couple, and family), which brings the revenue up roughly $49,000, from this time last year. ● Tennis Center memberships are down slightly as of this time last year. ● Marina revenue, as far as slip rentals, is up 40% over the same period as last year and we still have looper season to go (typically winter months) and the fuel sales are up 20% over the same period also. Recreation New Business: Cathy Hudson informed the Board that Coach Rich, with SWAT, is no longer coaching as he has taken a full-time job with the City of Gulf Shores. With that being said, the families of the current SWAT members reached out to Cathy and asked if they could have continued use of the indoor pool to train. Two of the parents have children who have been swimming with SWAT, and they are former collegiate swimmers themselves, and want to take over and possibly form their own team. That of course takes time to form, but in the meantime, they ask if they can continue to swim. After general discussion, they are in fact allowed to continue to train, since they are all pool members currently and are not paying these parents to coach the team. Once they do form their own team and start having a paid coach, we will revisit the fees. A motion was made to end regular session at 5:50 pm to vote on reappointment of Rec Board members, Cathy Hudson and Charlie Langham. Josh Warren made a motion to reappoint board member, Cathy Hudson to a 5-year term as a Rec Board member, and 2nd by Scott Berry, motion passed unanimously. Scott Berry made a motion to reappoint board member, Charlie Langham to a 5-year term as a Rec Board member, and 2nd by Josh Warren, motion passed unanimously. A motion was made to end special session at 5:53 pm. Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
