at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street
Present: Colton Coile, Chairman; Members Chuck Zunk, Jim Garrett and
Mike Ford. Betty Rivenbark, Secretary. Absent: Joe McEnerney, Mike
Baugh, Ken Knutsen
The minutes of September 12t" meeting were duly approved as written.
Special FBO status - Colton reported that we are still looking at Special
FBO applications, there are still others out there who are looking to be
established at the airport. He said further that Cal Jones will be at the
November meeting to discuss his application for Spec FBO status.
Modifying the insurance from required five million to one million was
discussed. Chuck said that currently one million insurance is accepted and
made a motion to change the cap on required insurance from five million
dollars to one million dollars and remove any discussion on sub-limits(per
seat limitation). Jim Garrett 2"d the motion and it carried unanimously.
T — hangar status — Jim said M.W. Rogers had a minor problem and they
are going to fix it and be back at it next week, when they get finished, we will
do the advertising and hopefully get them rented in November. He still
needs to talk to Dan McCrory, has not talked to him recently, it was decided
we will run power all the way down in case we build more hangars in the
future. Chuck reported we now have 13 rented, two backed out.
Runway Construction — Chuck said he had another meeting with the
contractor, most repairs done, pretty much what done is what is going to get
done. He has a meeting Thursday at 10:OOAM and that we are about ready
to accept the project.
The advertising for a new consulting engineer was talked about and it has
been advertised, the applications will be reviewed, ranked and we will select
a new one. We will officially notify Barge Waggoner during this period.
New projects were discussed and in that possible relocation of the fire
station. Colton reported ALDOT has plans for 4 GA terminals and we can
use their designs.
Public Safety Hangar. it was reported that the signed lease is here. Don't
know if they have paid the rent yet.
Safety & Security Plan — Colton said he reviewed update with Tut. It was
suggested that we get another lawyer for the Authority who is
knowledgeable about airports and with Mayor's approval he contacted E.B.
Peebles, Jr. who is reviewing and there will be a report at the November
meeting. The lawyer said he would like to review all ordinances pertaining
to the airport. 2007 City budgeting process and lease - Nothing pressing so
this will happen when all review done.
Festival of Flight 2007 — nothing to report
Colton reported Randy Billingsly is interested in building a 6400 sq ft hangar.
Discussion was held on possibly doing a thirty year ground lease with an
escalation clause. Colton said further Randy has a lease at Gulf Shores
now.
The Authority went into executive session at 4:50 — came out at 4:57 and
meeting was duly adjourned at 5:00 PM
