HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-13-2006 Regular MeetingThe Airport Authority of the City of Fairhope met Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at
4:OOPM at the City Administration Building 161 N. Section Street.
Present: Colton Coile, Chairman; Chuck Zunk, Ken Knutsen, Joe
McErnerney, Mike Ford. Betty Rivenbark, Secretary. Absent: Mike Baugh
Jim Garrett
The minutes of the May meeting were considered and duly approved as
written.
Discussion of runway construction — Chuck said we are down to final
strokes, that there will be an FAA inspection Thursday afternoon but
that does not mean we are signing off on everything, we still have our
punch list and we will sign off when we feel everything finished. He said we
were under budget and have requested thru FAA give us an amendment to
the 2004 FAA grant, using the money to install an Automatic Weather
Observation System and a Ground Controlled Outlet which would bring the
runway into current standards of the FAA. We have not gotten an answer
yet but don't think it will be a problem.
The board went into executive session at 4:07 PM to discuss litigation.
After executive session the meeting resumed.
The review of the Festival of Flight - Colton said they had a wrap up
meeting last Thursday and the plan now is to have it the 3rd Saturday in
May, yearly. and have a two day event. have controlled airspace, air show,
have an agenda so everybody will know what time the performances are.
Colton said that they have a meeting with Sonny next Monday to discuss
further development.
T-hangar status — Colton said a purchase order was issued and the building
ordered. Said it will probably come in 4-6 weeks. Site prep probably in 3-4
weeks. We will have to pay for the asphalt. Joe said it was budgeted.
Colton discussed the list of people who wanted a T-hangar that he had that
had been provided by Teledyne. How to handle notification and receiving
of monies was discussed. Chuck to get the letter ready. Discussion of
amount of monthly fees to charge was discussed.
Safety and Security — Chuck has the final draft. He plans to get with Jim
and the Chief and get their input, have a final draft at the next meeting. Next
step is to get a resolution passed and send to state.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
