Joe Kelley called the meeting to order and the May 8th meeting minutes were approved.
Amendments to 2024-2025 school year funding requests were presented, discussed and voted
on. All detailed requests are attached .
Jon Cardwell requested changes on behalf of Fairhope High, adding line items for band, choir,
dance , engineering, IB history supplemental texts, AP history supplemental texts, and funding
to cover half of IB test fees . All items in this set are to be funded with 3-mill money {see below
for breakdown). Additional request was made for funding for a hall pass system , to be funded
from K-1 monies, also noted below. Danielle Mashburn -Myrick made a motion to approve
changes in Fairhope High 's funding request; Carrie Mclemore seconded and motion passed.

Angie Hall requested changes on behalf of Fairhope Middle, adding an additional intervention
language arts position, a regular language arts position, removing one instructional aide, adding
an in-school suspension tutor, and funding for institutional level dues for CLAS professional
organization. Slight changes are also requested for salary amounts for the intervention math
teachers and the social worker positions . Danielle Mashburn-Myrick made a motion to approve
changes in Fairhope Middle's funding request; Carrie Mclemore seconded and motion passed .

There was a brief discussion about nominations for positions on the commission that will be
open in 2025. Commission members will meet in September to discuss and consider candidates,
planning to have any appointments and reappointments made by city council prior to January.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday,
September 4th and Fairhope Middle.

School Summary: Fairhope East identified reading and math as areas in need of improvement as based
on the ACAP reading and math scores. We intentionally seek to help those who score below grade level
by providing additional time and focused intervention each week. Additionally, we identified the
concept of STEAM as a cross-curricular experience based on hands -on engagement , discovery, and the
scientific method -Ask -Imagine -Plan -Create -Improve.
Below are requests to the Commission for Fairhope Schools for the approximate $719,667 designated

teachers and students.
Part-Time Interventionist $26,000.00 Reading Intervention/3rd The role of the Intervention teacher at
Grade LAPS Fairhope East is to provide targeted support
and instruction for any student who
struggles academically in the area of
Reading, specifically 3 rd grade. The
Interventionist collects data through various
progress monitoriting programs and tools
and works with the teachers in gaining
additional data . While we are under the
Literacy Act, we have found the need to
assign one PTI to the 3 rd Grade students
who require additional intervention,
assessments, and documentation .

the following responsibilities: assessment
and progress monitoring, individualized
support, professional development, data
analysis, and communication with teachers
and stakeholders. The Math Coach works
with teachers and students to provide
individualized support and instruction,
which benefits Fairhope East as a whole.

Instructional Coach $92 ,000.00 Instructional Coach The Instructional Coach at Fairhope East
supports teachers in improving their
instructional practices and ultimately
enhancing student learning outcomes . The
Instructional Coach models lessons,
participates and guides with co-teaching,
provides feedback and data analysis , and
participates in PLCs with the teachers.
Additionally, she establishes coaching cycles
to provide ongoing support and guidance
over time to address specific instructional
challenges or goals .
ELL Interventionist $91,000 .00 The role of the ELL Interventionist is to
provide targeted support and instruction to
students who are learn i ng English as a
second language. With intentional, specific
small group instruction using research -based
strategies, the ELL Interventionist focuses on
language development, academic skills, and
content-area knowledge . Our ACAP scores
show the subpopulation of Hispanic/
ELL/Limited English Proficiency performing
below proficient standards. The ELL
Interventionist also serves other FEES
students through Reading and Math
Intervention, but the priority would be our
ELL population . This person is fluent in
Spanish and trained in various Reading
programs to implement intervention (SPIRE,
Phonics l 't, LETRS)
Full Time $35,000 .00 With the constantly evolving needs of our
Paraprofessional student population , we feel it is necessary
for an additional full-time paraprofessional
unit to help serve various populations . We
have many students entering school with
identified needs , and being able to provide
intervention at an early age is extremely
beneficial.
Institutional CLAS $1200.00 We are asking for our membership to the

to be paid for by 3 mil funds . This is where
we participate and engage in professional
development for administration, gain PLUs,

Kagan Cooperative Learning $10,550 We would like for 10 teachers and 2
Conference administrators to attend the Kagan
Cooperative Learning Conference in Orlando
in July. This interactive workshop focuses on
Kagan structures that increase academic
achievement, improve ethnic relations ,
enhance self-esteem , create a more
harmonious classroom climate, reduce
discipline problems , and develop student
socia l skills and character virtues .

teachers and 2 admin is as follows :

Augmented Reality Sandbox $9,000 The Augmented Reality Sandbox is a
great tool for teaching about mapping,
topography, and for students to learn to
visualize in 3D. An augmented reality is
an interactive, dynamic educational tool
to help understand mapping,
topography, watersheds, natural
hazards, and more! It uses a motion
sensor and computer software to map
contour lines onto the sand that adjust
to the elevation levels of the sand in
real-time. This will be in our STEAM Lab ,
which impact all students at Fairhope
East.

Mindfulness and Well -Being, $2,000 The Mentoring for Well-Being and
Session 2 Mindfulness Team from Auburn
University would be happy to come back
to lead the faculty in the second part of
the presentation focused on practicing
and maintaining teacher and
administrator well -being .
The school would provide them lodging
for their stay.
Sensory Sculptures for the $5,593 .00 Having a multi-sensory environment in
Pirate Paradise schools is beneficial for both teachers
and pupils as it provides a two-way
learning process . External spaces can
provide opportunities for observation,
i nvestigation and problem-solving and
form a flexible facility often more readily
adaptable to change in user
requirements than the building itself.
They can offer a stimulating
environment su ited to practical activities
from which many pupils, especially those
with special needs, can benefit.
SPIRE Materials $1 ,342 .00 We need consumable SPIRE materials,
which is the county/state-approved
resource for dyslexia intervention. We
would like to continue using these
materials but need to order new
workbooks. The total cost of these
materials would be approximately
$1,342 (including shipping). Th is would
include 38 readers and 38 workbooks .
The workbooks and readers are
consumable and must be reordered
yearly .
ESGI Subscription $1476.00 This is an online platform for progress
monitoring, assessing , and data
collection. The kinderga rten teachers
use it to assess mastery of the standards
and t r ack progress .
Literacy Act Portfolio $260 .00 We are in need of materials to build
Materials Literacy Act Portfolio binders for our
third -grade teachers. The state requires
that we keep sufficient data that
supports student promotion to fourth
grade . In order to do so we need file
folders , copy paper, b i nders, and
dividers .
Enhancement of Literacy $3746.00 Having an organized, functional book
Materials room is important for all K-6 teachers.
We are in need of some items to
enhance our literacy center mate ri als
such as zipper pouches, labels , libib
subscription , and decodable books.
Substitutes $22 ,000 While teachers are participating in
various Professional Development
sessions : LETRS training, data meetings,
and Problem -Solving Teams (PST), we
will need substitute s i n order for them to
attend .
Camera Software $1300 With the addition of the new camera
system, which significantly enhances
viewing capabilities, we are in need of
additional software to ensure optimal
viewing and student safety.
Heggerty Teacher Manuals $300 Heggerty Teacher Manuals are wide ly
used in early literacy instruction,
particularly for phonemic awareness.
These manuals provide structured
lessons to help teachers implement
Heggerty's phonemic awareness
curriculum effectively
Starfall, Generation Genius, $7900 Starfall is an educational program
and AR designed t o help young learners,
particu lar ly in preschoo l through early
elementa ry grades, develop
foundational literacy skills . It is widely
used in classrooms and homes to
support reading and language
development. Generation Genius is an
educational platform designed to
enhance science and math learning for
students from kindergarten through
middle school. It provides a range of
resources that aim to make STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics) education engaging and
accessible. The Accelerated Reading
program is designed to help students
improve their reading skills more quickly
than traditional methods . This program
focuses on increasing reading speed,
comprehension, and retention.
