Fairhope Public School Commission /3 Mil Referendum
School Year: 2024-2025
School Summary: Fairhope East identified reading and math as areas in need of improvement as based
on the ACAP reading and math scores. We intentionally seek to help those who score below grade level
by providing additional time and focused intervention each week. Additionally, we identified the
concept of STEAM as a cross-curricular experience based on hands-on engagement, discovery, and the
scientific method – Ask – Imagine – Plan – Create – Improve.
Below are requests to the Commission for Fairhope Schools for the approximate $688,167 designated
for improving academics.

STEAM Coach $80,000.00 STEAM Instructor
The STEAM Lab and STEAM Instructor
integrates Science, Technology, Engineering,
Art, and Math into cohesive, interdisciplinary
learning experiences for students. The STEAM
Instructor works in collaboration with all
teachers at Fairhope East to provide Project-
Based Learning and instructional support to
master the standards being taught. STEAM at
FEES is accessible and inclusive for all students
and the STEAM lab fosters a culture of
curiosity, exploration, and innovation among
students. The STEAM teacher forges
partnerships with many businesses,
organizations, and experts in the STEAM field
to provide authentic learning experiences,
mentorship opportunities, and resources for
teachers and students.
Part-Time Interventionist $26,000.00 Reading Intervention/3rd
Grade LAPS
The role of the Intervention teacher at
Fairhope East is to provide targeted support
and instruction for any student who
struggles academically in the area of
Reading, specifically 3rd grade. The
Interventionist collects data through various
progress monitoriting programs and tools
and works with the teachers in gaining
additional data. While we are under the
Literacy Act, we have found the need to
assign one PTI to the 3rd Grade students
who require additional intervention,
assessments, and documentation.

Math Coach $90,000.00 Math Coach The Math Coach at Fairhope East involves
the following responsibilities: assessment
and progress monitoring, individualized
support, professional development, data
analysis, and communication with teachers
and stakeholders. The Math Coach works
with teachers and students to provide
individualized support and instruction,
which benefits Fairhope East as a whole.
Full-time Interventionist $76,000.00 Intervention The role of the Intervention teacher at
Fairhope East is to provide targeted support
and instruction for any student who
struggles academically in the areas of Math
and/or Reading. The Interventionist collects
data through various progress monitoriting
programs and tools and works with the
teachers to determine what best supports
our learners. We want our students to reach
their full potential academically and the
Interventionist plays a very important role in
doing so.

Instructional Coach
$92,000.00 Instructional Coach The Instructional Coach at Fairhope East
supports teachers in improving their
instructional practices and ultimately
enhancing student learning outcomes. The
Instructional Coach models lessons,
participates and guides with co-teaching,
provides feedback and data analysis, and
participates in PLCs with the teachers.
Additionally, she establishes coaching cycles
to provide ongoing support and guidance
over time to address specific instructional
challenges or goals.
ELL Interventionist $91,000.00 The role of the ELL Interventionist is to
provide targeted support and instruction to
students who are learning English as a
second language. With intentional, specific
small group instruction using research-based
strategies, the ELL Interventionist focuses on
language development, academic skills, and
content-area knowledge. Our ACAP scores
show the subpopulation of Hispanic/
ELL/Limited English Proficiency performing
below proficient standards. The ELL
Interventionist also serves other FEES
students through Reading and Math
Intervention, but the priority would be our
ELL population. This person is fluent in
Spanish and trained in various Reading
programs to implement intervention (SPIRE,
Phonics 1st, LETRS)
Full Time
Paraprofessional
$35,000.00 With the constantly evolving needs of our
student population, we feel it is necessary
for an additional full-time paraprofessional
unit to help serve various populations. We
have many students entering school with
identified needs, and being able to provide
intervention at an early age is extremely
beneficial.
Institutional CLAS
Membership
$1200.00 We are asking for our membership to the
CLAS professional organization to continue
to be paid for by 3 mil funds. This is where
we participate and engage in professional
development for administration, gain PLUs,
and join a community of continued learning.
Kagan Cooperative Learning
Conference
$10,550 We would like for 10 teachers and 2
administrators to attend the Kagan
Cooperative Learning Conference in Orlando
in July. This interactive workshop focuses on
Kagan structures that increase academic
achievement, improve ethnic relations,
enhance self-esteem, create a more
harmonious classroom climate, reduce
discipline problems, and develop student
social skills and character virtues.
The breakdown of registration costs for 10
teachers and 2 admin is as follows:
Registration Fee & materials: $10,550
Augmented Reality Sandbox $9,000 The Augmented Reality Sandbox is a
great tool for teaching about mapping,
topography, and for students to learn to
visualize in 3D. An augmented reality is
an interactive, dynamic educational tool
to help understand mapping,
topography, watersheds, natural
hazards, and more! It uses a motion
sensor and computer software to map
contour lines onto the sand that adjust
to the elevation levels of the sand in
real-time. This will be in our STEAM Lab,
which impact all students at Fairhope
East.

Mindfulness and Well-Being,
Session 2
$2,000 The Mentoring for Well-Being and
Mindfulness Team from Auburn
University would be happy to come back
to lead the faculty in the second part of
the presentation focused on practicing
and maintaining teacher and
administrator well-being.
The school would provide them lodging
for their stay.
Sensory Sculptures for the
Pirate Paradise
$5,593.00 Having a multi-sensory environment in
schools is beneficial for both teachers
and pupils as it provides a two-way
learning process. External spaces can
provide opportunities for observation,
investigation and problem-solving and
form a flexible facility often more readily
adaptable to change in user
requirements than the building itself.
They can offer a stimulating
environment suited to practical activities
from which many pupils, especially those
with special needs, can benefit.
SPIRE Materials $1,342.00 We need consumable SPIRE materials,
which is the county/state-approved
resource for dyslexia intervention. We
would like to continue using these
materials but need to order new
workbooks. The total cost of these
materials would be approximately
$1,342 (including shipping). This would
include 38 readers and 38 workbooks.
The workbooks and readers are
consumable and must be reordered
yearly.
ESGI Subscription $1476.00 This is an online platform for progress
monitoring, assessing, and data
collection. The kindergarten teachers
use it to assess mastery of the standards
and track progress.
Literacy Act Portfolio
Materials
$260.00 We are in need of materials to build
Literacy Act Portfolio binders for our
third-grade teachers. The state requires
that we keep sufficient data that
supports student promotion to fourth
grade. In order to do so we need file
folders, copy paper, binders, and
dividers.
Enhancement of Literacy
Materials
$3746.00 Having an organized, functional book
room is important for all K-6 teachers.
We are in need of some items to
enhance our literacy center materials
such as zipper pouches, labels, libib
subscription, and decodable books.
