HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-19-2020 Regular MeetingMinutes of the Fairhope Recreation Board The Fairhope Recreation Board met Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 5:15 p.m. in the Rec Center at 803 North Greeno Road. Present: Derek Thomas, Pat White, Corey Martin, Charlie Langham, and Vann Saltz. Absent: Cathy Hudson, Bob Keyser, Jay Robinson and Michelle Smith. Gayle Fogarty took minutes. The meeting was called to order by Pat White at 5:19 p.m. The minutes of the July 15, 2020 meeting were considered and approved on a motion by Vann Saltz, seconded by Corey Martin, none opposed. Recreation Update: Pat White informed the board that the Fairhope High School football game will take place in the stadium, 50% capacity will be allowed, and only 3,000 tickets will be sold, with pre -sale required, masks will be required and the concession stand will be open, selling pre -packaged items. Pat also informed the board that the Rotary Club Basketball Court and Playground equipment projects are on the next City Council meeting agenda. Also, he reminded the board of the plaque presentation/memorial ceremony for Emily Dunnam set for Friday, September 11, 2020 at 6 p.m. at the Fairhope Soccer Complex. Pat shared his appreciation with the board for supporting the position of the Athletic Field Coordinator, he said, it has been submitted in the 2020-2021 Recreation budget. He stated that he is grateful for the letter Bob Keyser submitted to the City Council. Also, he informed the board that the new software program for a Munis module for the Parks and Recreation Department that will enable citizens to access programs online through Tyler System Management Service is on the next City Council agenda, and will be funded thru the CARES ACT. Charlie Langham asked Pat if the fences have been repaired, Pat relied that the high school fence has been repaired, and the minor fence supplies have been ordered and will be repaired by the time fall ball begins. Vann Saltz asked Pat if he had heard from the Basketball League. Pat stated that he has not heard from Kelly Champion. Corey Martin suggested inviting the entire basketball board to meet with the Recreation Board. Charlie suggested inviting them to the next Recreation Board meeting, the board agreed. Charlie informed the board that a Recreation Board application was submitted for Charlie Williamson. Charlie asked everyone to review the application. There was general discussion among the board members. Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
