Recreation Update: Tom Kuhl reminded the board members that two years ago a resolution was
passed by the City Council to increase field usage fees, ($50 per day, per field, $30 per staff
member & $100 clean-up fee) he is having some issues with renters asking to reduce City staff,
as they don't feel they are needed, allowing them to cut overall tournament costs. Tom asked the
board, if the resolution for the field fees could be revised to be presented differently, to avoid this
issue altogether. He suggested the new wording to read $125 per day, per field to rent a City
field. Tom also shared thoughts on a recent soccer tournament. He added that St. Michael's has
approached the City about using Barnwell as practice fields.

time. The City will host the City Meet the last weekend in July.
Mary Gammer stated that the Fairhope Tennis Association has few requests: they would like a
few shelves added to Fairhope Tennis Center building, to sell headbands, wristbands, etc. Also,
they would like two vending machines added — one for snacks and one for drinks, as a lot of
young people are playing tennis and requesting refreshments.
Michelle Smith stated that she sat in on the last Bike/Pedestrian Committee meeting. The
committee is working to prioritize their projects. She suggested to the group that they create a
5-year plan, like the Recreation Board. Michelle asked for a copy, Gayle Fogarty stated that she
will send her a copy of the Rec Board's 5-year plan.
Charlie Langham suggested that the City consider purchasing additional land, that is adjacent to
current City property. He stated that the City is growing and the need for parks/playing fields
will only increase. Charlie mentioned land at Hwy 13/Hwy 34 and land near FHS.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
