the group that no action was needed regarding old business discussed at the last meeting. Michelle Smith
asked if there were any concerns about the Infant Swim & Rescue program that was discussed at the last
meeting. Bob stated there were some concerns about how to educate the public. Michelle suggested
offering the program at a certain time and informing pool members the program would be taking place at
that time.
ESMA Oktobersplash Fall Swim Meet: Michelle Smith informed the group that (ESMA) Eastern Shore
Master Swimmers Association will host its annual Oktobersplash Swim Meet on October 17, 2015 from
Noon-6 p.m., in the past this meet has been on Sunday. In an effort to attract more swimmers, it will be
held on Saturday rather than on Sunday, presently she expects 50-60 swimmers. Michelle added that the
pool will be closed from Noon-6 p.m. to host the swim meet, she has already received approval from Pool
Programs Coordinator Noah Williams, although asked that she run it by the Recreation Board.
Updates: Tom Kuhl stated that the Manley soccer complex is ahead of schedule. Also, bids for the new
tennis courts will be available on the City website by June 17, 2015. There are three bids for this project:
6 asphalt courts, 6 hydro courts and 4 asphalt/2 hydro courts. Mary Gammer commented that having 2
hydro courts requires as much attention to maintain, as 6 hydro courts, she suggested installing 6 hydro
courts or don't install any. Vann Saltz asked Mary how often the tennis courts are used, as she is an avid
tennis player; she stated that if more courts were available then more people would be able to play tennis.
Due to the heat, mornings and afternoons are the most popular times the courts are used. Cathy Hudson
informed the group that the last FAST regular home meet will be July 16. Then swimming ESP in Orange
Beach, Jr. Champs is July 18 in Bay Minette, July 21 is the pep rally, dinner and awards program, then

shared pictures and an update of the concession stand progress with the group; he added that completing
the concession stand is on a tight timeline; the improvement of the stand will reduce prep time and allow
things to run more efficiently. According to Bob, last year's net sales from the concession stand totaled
$23,000; Charlie Langham added that credit cards will be accepted when the new stand opens. Vann
Saltz reported that the City has collected $4,051 from Michael Rodgers for swim lessons held at the City
