After a correction under the update by Tom Kuhl, it was to be the High School Battle of the Bay, not the Master Swim Battle of the Bay the minutes of the October 16, 2013 meeting were considered and approved on a motion by Bob Keyser, second by Cathy Hudson, none opposed. The Manley Complex — Sherry Sullivan gave an update to the board. The new plans were reviewed by all. The rec board needs to make a recommendation before taking the new plans back to the planning commission. Maintenance of county Road 13 will need to be taken over by the City. With the new plan, we retained the 10 fields; however the number of parking had to be reduced. Concerns were brought up by Bob Keyser. They were the distance between fields not being enough, parking shortage, retention space, and tapering of the fields. The acquisition of an additional 10 acres and how to incorporate the extra land into the current plans were discussed. An outside person will contact owner about pricing of the 10 acres. Recommendation was proposed by Bob Keyser to acquire additional 10 acres in order to spread the fields out and add green space. The recommendation was seconded by Jennifer Douglass, none opposed. On Sunday, November 24, 2013 an e-mail with new revisions for the Manley Road Complex was proposed. Bob Keyser proposed a motion to submit the plan to both the City Council and the Planning Commission; second by Derek Thomas, none opposed. Tennis — Brad Townsend spoke about the economic impact that the sport of Tennis could bring to our area. The addition of more hard courts with the possibility of a few soft courts and a pickle ball area would be what is needed. The question came up on incorporating a full service Tennis Shop into the current structure and what the process would be to obtain this. A franchise agreement would be needed along with council approval to place a Tennis shop in the building. Recreation Update — Tom Kuhl updated the Board. Basketball is the only sport going right now and everything else is going fine. Community Park — Sherry Sullivan updated the Board about the new park. School visits are in progress. The comments and remarks about the new park have all been positive. Project looks to be completed in April which would be the 201h Anniversary of the old park.
