FAST swim team has a set practice time and that both FAST and the Master swim
Team would need to work out a practice schedule for the pools. He also reported
that the FAST participants pay money to a league and wanted to know how this
would be set up for the adult swimmers. He also stated that the FAST league is
treated the same as all the other sports leagues.
A registration fee will need to be set by the Master Swim Team. Also, a set
training time or schedule would need to be set. Tom also questioned during a
swim meet who owns the equipment needed and Michelle Smith stated that the
Master Swim Team would bring the equipment.
The board suggested that the Master Swim Team would have to create a board
with by-laws; however Michelle Smith could not be a member of that board
because of her membership on the Recreation Board. The board also stated that
tournaments would need to be scheduled so not to create a conflict. Vann
suggested that he and Tom meet with the members of the Master Swim Team,
make suggestions pertaining to the creation of a Board with By-laws and then re -
access things after that.
Samaritan — Tom reported that he met with Clemer Leggett to discuss the Samaritan Coalition.
Coalition Tom explained to Clemer that the fields in Barnwell are used quite a bit for not
just football. He also said that he explained his concerns to Clemer pertaining to
security, parking, insurance, police, officials, etc. He said that he has not heard
from Clemer since that time.

decrease last quarter due to the adjustment in membership dues by approximately
6%. Sherry Sullivan reported that comparable to the Nix Center the percentage of
decrease in membership is approximately the same.
New Business:

complete; however the pool will be closed until the end of January.
5-Year — Erik Cortinas is continuing to work on the 5-year plan. He has created a
worksheet for each entity under recreation for this plan.
Mike Ford — Mike Ford voiced his concerns, as well as that of the other City Council members,
that there may be a conflict of interest of Michelle Smith acting as a "coach for
hire" to triathlon students and using the Fairhope City pool for swimming training
while being a member of the Rec Board. Tom Kuhl advised that this is being
looked into.
The meeting was duly adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
