HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-07-2024 Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee Minutes Fairhope Pedestrian & Bicycle Committee Minutes-May 2024 Attendees: Members-Chris Riley, Morgan Russell, Mike Walker, Gary Gover, Johnny Prewit, Bryan Flowers, Jack Graves, Bill Hall. Unexcused Members: No City Representative present, No Council Liaison present; Excused Member absence: Katie Bolton Call to order at: 4:00pm Review/Approve January Meeting minutes. March Meeting minutes approved as written. Administrative Items-(All)-Need a nomination of member to perform committee Chairperson/Co- Chairperson and Secretary duties. Bill Hall to step down as Chairperson effective at the end of the July Meeting. Reminder, July meeting will be July 2nd, 2024, from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm due to room availability. ARC-GIS Field Maps App update from Chris Ambron-Chris Ambron has created a new GIS Map dedicated to the P&B Committee. The old ARC-GIS Field Maps will no longer be available to the committee members. Bill Hall will forward the new sign-in credentials and PW to all members. Bike Valet Station for Arts & Crafts Festival-Johnny Prewit reported that the Bike Valet had a good attendance although weather was marginal for part of the time. SHARROWS signage, bike rack, and bike repair station installation status update – Katie Bolton was not in attendance so no update on this project. School Bicycle Workshops- Katie Bolton was not in attendance so no update on this project. Safe Streets & Roads for All (SS4A) Project Recommendations from all Committee Members – No update on this project. Update on Triangle Property development project – Katie Bolton was not in attendance so no update on this project. Baldwin County Connectivity Plan Update – No update on this project. Open Forum- Elks Club Crosswalk-Chris Riley reported that the Traffic Safety Committee determined that placing the crosswalk at that location did not support the City’s connectivity plan as there is no sidewalk on Laurel Street that would be connected by a crosswalk to the S Mobile Street sidewalk. With the recent traffic fatality just South of the American Legion, the committee recommends that traffic calming, turn warning signs and lights be placed on both ends of the curve. Back Burner (BB) Items: • Road level crosswalk lights repairs & upgrade status Revisit March Meeting- (Bryan Flowers) Repaving of Section street to start first week of June. • Update on Blue Island & Fairwood Blvd Sidewalks Projects- The initial plans have been turned into ALDOT for review/approval. • Working Waterfront Project-(Chris R. & Chris K.)-No update. • Comprehensive Land Use Plan Presentations-(Gary) Gary Gover will write a memo to the City Planning & Zoning Committee to ensure the Comprehensive Plan addresses the Master Street, Pedestrian, and Bicycle Plan. Gary will also develop a memo to the Planning & Zoning Committee to address the Shade Tree Planting Program. • Complete Streets Resolution-(Bill) No new information available. • Bicycle Friendly & Safe Community Application Status On Hold Pending Complete Streets Implementation-On Hold • Wayfinding Signage update-(?)
