HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-26-2002 Called MeetingThe Fairhope Airport Board met in a called meeting on Monday, August 26, 2002 at 8:00AM at the City Administration Building, 16 N. Section Street Present: Sue Mason, Chairman; Mike Ford, Colton Coile, Mike Baugh, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary. Absent: Khim Vira, Jack Nelson, Brad Harris The purpose of the meeting today was to review bids for fencing and clearing at the airport. Sue Mason reported that a bid opening was held August 20, 2002 with the airport engineer, Barge, Waggoner, Sumner & Cannon on FAA AIP Project No. 3-01-0029- 004-2002 on fencing and clearing and the seven bids have been tabulated with a recommendation to go with Consolidated Fence Co., Daphne, AL. With a bid amount of $272,491.30. (Bid tabulation in file). She needed board recommendation to go to council. Mike Baugh moved to recommend to the city council approval of the lowest bidder who meets specifications(Consolidated Fence) Colton Coile 2"d the vote and it carried unanimously. Sue said this will probably be a project that goes for two1/2 years. That we need someone on site to help and she would like to have a Deputy Chairman appointed and recommended Brad Harris as he is based at the airport. She said she talked to Brad and he was agreeable, he would be the eyes and ears, a contact. A motion was make by Colton Coile, 2"d by Mike Baugh to appoint him as Deputy Chairman for the duration of the project. Sue also mentioned she would like the board to be thinking about changing the board to an Airport Authority and we would discuss later. This would take a Resolution of the council. She asked Colton to look into the safety, security on the airport and report back to us in November. If he can secure a copy of an ordinance from another airport that we could use that would be okey too. Sue brought Mike Baugh up to date on the proposal we made to Teledyne about a reduction in rent for use of the front offices in the big building. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned. She said there would be no meeting in September, meet again in November
