Charlie called the meeting to order and turned it over to Eddie. He said
that we hosted the Alabama Turf Grass Association and that was a
good feather in our crown. He had passed out a list of various projects
for 2007 listing priorities, time frames noted and who will be handling it.
(copy in file) that included:
Work on Stimpson Field
Additional Pool
Barnwell Property — Softball fields & football fields
Volanta Ball Park — Ozone field & extend t-ball field
Football Stadium
New Rec Center
New Skate Plaza
He discussed each with the board. He also said that they started work on
Stimpson field, grading. He said the bid for the tennis courts went out and
we got a good price back for that. He said next week we will put the sub
base down, weather allowing it. He also reported we got the bids back
for the pool with the low bid being 137,000. Mike Ford asked him what it
would cost to finish the pool and he said around $15,000, we need more roll
up doors, more ventilation.
Two ladies were present and addressed the board on the Skateboard Park.
Eddie told them that we did not get the grant and we are trying to figure out
a way to go ahead and get it done. That we should be able to get the
drawing that Ack Moore did and that he will talk to the Mayor. Mike Ford
told them that everybody is on board about it. It is just not at the top of
list in getting it done and money to complete it is an issue. They thanked the
board for their interest in getting it done.
Mike Ford talked about the Barnwell property and discussion was held on
the drainage problem in the southwest quadron of the property.
Eddie said the tennis court will be finished by early May and that the
recreation center and skateboard park would be after finishing the
pool. He said we would start the recreation center as soon as we get the
tennis court done. He said Rich Mueller will be getting the figures so we
could get started by May possibly get finished in 6-8 months.
There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned at 7:30 PM.
