Youth Basketball update — Eddie gave an update on the youth basketball and said he solved the restroom problem by having the lifeguards check on the restrooms every hour on the hour and things have gone smoothly since then. He gave a report on the Dressing Room/Restroom Facility and said that the building bids had gone out and come back with Kemko being low bidder at $61,000. The plumbing bids had gone out and come back with a low bid of $25,000 that the bids had not gone out on the blocks, bricks, foundation, HVAC or doors. He said that the main concern now is moving the lift station, and once that gets done he can move forward on completing the building. He mentioned that we also wanted to redo the track and gate restrooms, that he is juggling everything and getting it to work out as best as he knows how; just hope it falls in line, get all the pieces together at the right time. He reported that the spring programs are wide open — baseball, T-ball has 18 teams, 400 kids in softball, 400 kids in soccer. Referencing the question at the last meeting about extended hours at the pool he said he was trying to work that out, the problem is finding lifeguards that want to work that late. He also reported on trying to work out a program jointly with Thomas Hospital to build our new facility. He said he and Charlie are going to Chicago to look at a facility up there that is partnering in a situation that is being proposed. Will report back next meeting. 178 Mike Ford reported on the land we are trying to acquire and said he is still working with Mason McGowin to see if we can work out something there. It was pointed out that nothing had been done to the fields down in Barnwell. There being no further business, the meeting was duly adjourned at 7:30PM.
